Its as easy as going to http://www.livepositively.com, then click on Vote For Your Park. Next type in Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park and VOTE! Voting is open till Sept. 6th. Last year the Bear Head State Park in Ely, MN won this contest by receiving more than 1.6 million votes! The Coca-Cola Live Positively initiative will award $100,000 recreation grant to the park with the most votes, $50,000 grant for second and $25,000 for third most votes. News to Use:

SHIP Funding Update

With the state budget now in place we know that $15 million has been allocated for SHIP through June 30, 2013. While there are many unknowns surrounding how these dollars will be made available to local public health, we look forward to the opportunity to build upon the foundation we created over the last 2 years. As we receive more details about SHIP funding we will be sure to keep you all informed.

The Co-Op
- Community members came together on June 2nd for the first meeting about creating a food co-op in Buffalo. - Bren Froseth and Jill Thompson, steering committee members, presented about the co-op at our August CLT meeting. - The group has decided to call it The Co-op and are currently looking at having a market/feasible study done. - Their hope is for The Co-op to be opened within 3 years. - Check them out on Facebook and soon their website...

When Are My Favorite Fruits & Veggies in Peak Season?

Grilled Garlic Corn on the Cob: 4 tablespoons of butter, softened 1 clove garlic, minced teaspoon chili powder 4 ears of corn salt and pepper to taste
- Mix together the butter, garlic, chili powder, salt and pepper and set aside. - Carefully pull back husks on corn without pulling them off. Remove the silk from the corn. Fold husks back into place. - Place the corn in a large bowl and cover with cold water for 15 minutes. Drain corn. - Open one side of husks and brush 1 tablespoon of garlic butter over each piece of corn, season with salt and pepper and pull husks back up. Tie ends of corn with kitchen string or one of the outer husk layers. Set corn 5 to 6 inches over heat and grill for 15 minutes, turning occasionally.
