1.1

Identify at least 3 elements you would need to build an “audience profile” for one of the media products
you have created on the course so far? (Horror Film Poster / Lost Short Film / Blair Witch Trailer Project)

You might need to look at the demographic of people that enjoy or don’t enjoy the film, as well as the
gender of the people who are interested! It could also be the interests of the people thinking of watching
the film!

For the Horror Film Poster I would look to posters of successful horror films or find discussion boards
where people are talking about upcoming horror films that they think look good or bad, such as on Film
Twitter or r/horror on reddit.

For the blair witch project I would also look for old discussion boards or reviews of the film from back
when it came
JC out to see what people’s initial impression of each aspect of the film and its promotional
material was.

Looking at the projects above pick one communication method and skill that you have
used in more than one project, compare how you have used them differently.
I used use of editing when making the horror film poster and blair witch project trailer,
the main difference being the poster was exclusively photo editing while the trailer was
primarily video editing.

2.2 WORKSHEET 1

This time focusing on THE BLAIR WITCH TRAILER PROJECT ONLY how successful do you feel you used
the following communication methods and skills? Provide one example below for each of the following
methodsz and skills.

Use of camera
We used the camera to the best of our ability and the shots, while a bit bright, I feel had the same feel
as in the actual trailer.
Use of editing
I am quite proud of how I edited the video, it is practically identical to the real thing.
Use of sound (Music/ dialogue/effects)
The music and effects sounded like in the main trailer and set the tone effectively, dialogue was a bit
hard to get right and I think we could’ve done some retakes, and my group did some intentionally silly
voices at some parts, but one of them did send us another take in a proper voice which made it much
better.
Narrative

Writing skills (Scripts/synopsis/questionaries/surveys/taglines/evaluations)

Research Skills (Secondary research of short films)
I watched the blair witch trailer several times, including while working on the trailer editing to make
sure I got it as accurate as possible.

Looking at all the above please answer the following.

What worked well?
The shots and editing worked well, along with what little photo editing I used for the title card, and the
sound design also worked well.

What would you do differently and why?
I would redo the voice lines and maybe some of the shots as well, and probably make it a bit darker
visually.
