ACTIVITY 6 Answer the following questions:

1. What are the elements of fiction?

These are the elements of fiction: characters, setting, plot, conflict, point of view, and theme.

2. How do images and symbols convey meaning?

-For me, the difference between them Symbols take the form of words, sounds, gestures, ideas, or visual
images and are used to convey other ideas and beliefs. It can be defined as the practice or art of using
an object or a word to represent an abstract idea. Symbols help us instantly communicate with our
brains or develop visual ideas. It shows a text's deeper significance and helps us understand what we are
reading. Images and symbols were also used to depict things that readers might have noticed and used
to generate new and creative ideas.

3. How do novels and short stories differ?

-It describes the emotions and feelings of all the characters but is not a character in the story
themselves. Broadly speaking, a short story is any work of narrative fiction Novels, by contrast,though of
course, there are plenty of examples of novels that are longer or shorter than those arbitrary guidelines.
The plots of a novel and a short story are different from one another since a novel contains multiple
plots, whereas a short story only has one. In comparison to a short story with a single central theme, a
novel can explore many concepts and has a wider range of topics. One example is "NOLI ME TANGERE"
by Dr. Jose Rizal.

4. What do we need to consider in the reading and teaching of fiction?

I think choosing the right book for students isn't the easiest teaching task. There are many factors to
consider: their reading levels, interests, backgrounds, previous experiences with reading, aspirations,
and even fears. Fiction can also help socialize children by teaching them important lessons about life and
the way that our society and communities work. When reading and teaching fiction, we should keep
interest in mind. experience, background, level, and other factors. We should also think about analyzing
the fictional elements on which the story is built, as well as its other aspects. Fiction focuses more on
the growth of experiences that we follow through a story.
