Identify at least 3 elements you would need to build an “audience profile” for one of the media products
you have created on the course so far? (Horror Film Poster / Lost Short Film / Blair Witch Trailer Project)

Blair witch trailer project:

 Age- Blair witch is age restricted and shouldn’t be watched by younger people.
 Interests- Blair witch isn’t for everyone so you would need to be interested in things like that to
want to watch it.
 Religion- some people don’t watch certain things because of religion so religion could be one of
the targets you need to get through.

Looking at the projects above pick one communication method and skill that you have used in more
than one project, compare how you have used them differently.

Active listening- I used this communication method when making the lost film project when I had to
cut the clips in the right places and getting audio to go with the clips, I used this communication
method when making the Blair witch trailer project too but used it differently by needing to listen to
other people in my group to know what to do and knowing when to do it.

2.2

This time focusing on THE BLAIR WITCH TRAILER PROJECT ONLY how successful do you feel you used
the following communication methods and skills? Provide one example below for each of the following
methods and skills.

Use of camera
In the Blair witch trailer project, I used the camera by recording scenes with people in it and scenes that
had the evidence in it.

Use of editing
In the Blair witch project, I edited multiple clips together mixing them together with dialogue and sound
effects.

Use of sound (Music/ dialogue/effects)

I used sound effects and dialogue to add more effect into the trailer and to make it more realistic like the
original trailer.

Narrative
I used more dialogue of little clips instead of just narrating it so I didn’t really use narrative.

Writing skills (Scripts/synopsis/questionaries/surveys/taglines/evaluations)

I used writing skills to plan out my Blair witch trailer, also writing the evaluation at the end of the trailer,
I made a survey and asked random people if they would watch it, I planned out taglines too for Blair
witch.

Research Skills (Secondary research of short films)

I researched the Blair witch trailer by rewatching it multiple times and doing worksheets and also
researching other trailers and making notes to help me with ideas for the Blair witch trailer.

Looking at all the above please answer the following.

What worked well?

I think when it came to editing that’s what worked well because of previously editing things which
helped me know what to do, when adding the dialogue and sound effects was the best bit because I had
lots to input to make it like the original trailer.

What would you do differently and why?

If I was to do it again I would put video effects in to blend the clips together instead of it being a sudden
change of clip.
