The pets included in this pack are intended to be used by players in
conjunction with their normal heroes. The players must split their move
and normal action between their hero and their pet. When used like this,
players with heroes and pets do not overshadow players without pets.

If you are playing with the Bayhaven setting guide,


Bayhaven: Port on the Bay, players must also take the
Beast Master or Outrider apprenticeship in order to have a pet.

For purposes of theses apprenticeships, the pets from


this expansion are categorized as follows:

Small pets (Beast Master Apprenticeship):

 Chameleon
 Magic Butterfly
 Wolpertinger
 Chamrosh
 Raiju
 Monkey
 Porcupine

Large pets (Outrider Apprenticeship):

 Giant Beetle
 Komodo
 Stag
 Gromp

Note: Adventures in Bayhaven use different icons than the original Hero
Kids adventures to avoid copyright infringement. While most are similar
enough, the following icon might not be:

Darkvision / Low Light Vision


Giant Riding Beetle
Special Action: Protective Shell
Once per encounter when your pet is
adjacent to an ally, the ally may use
your pet’s defense pool instead.
Special Action: Shell Deflection
If an enemy attack misses your pet,
and your pet rolled a 6 in their
defense pool, the attacker takes 1
damage.
Bonus Ability: Flyer
Your pet can fly over obstacles and
enemies.
On your turn you can choose to use your
move action to move your pet, and choose
to use your action to use your pet’s
action.

Giant Riding Beetle


Special Action: Protective Shell

adjacent to an ally, the ally may use

Your pet makes a melee attack at an
adjacent target
Special Action: Poison Bite
Your pet makes a melee attack with 1
less die. If it hits, that creature has 1
less die in its defense pool until the
beginning of your next turn.
Bonus Ability: Climber
Your pet is excellent at climbing.
On your turn you can choose to use your
move action to move your pet, and choose
to use your action to use your pet’s
action.

Magic Butterfly
Magic Attack: Razor Wings
Your pet makes a magic attack at a
target up to 4 squares away
Special Action: Razor Swarm
Your pet creates a magical swarm of
butterflies in a square. Until the end
of the encounter, any creature
entering that square takes 1 damage.
Bonus Ability: Flyer
Your pet can fly over obstacles and
enemies.
On your turn you can choose to use your
move action to move your pet, and choose
to use your action to use your pet’s
action.

Wolpertinger
Melee Attack: Antlers
Your pet makes a melee attack at an
adjacent target
Special Action: Terrifying Furball
When your pet attacks an enemy,
they must re-roll 6’s the first time
they roll their defense pool.
Bonus Ability: Flyer
Your pet can fly over obstacles and
enemies.
On your turn you can choose to use your
move action to move your pet, and choose
to use your action to use your pet’s
action.

Melee Attack: Raking Claws
Your pet makes a melee attack at an
adjacent target
Special Action: Flyby Attack
Your pet may use its action to make a
melee attack during its move action.
Bonus Ability: Flyer
You pet can fly over obstacles and
enemies.
On your turn you can choose to use your
move action to move your pet, and choose
to use your action to use your pet’s
action.

Magic Attack: Lightning Bolt
Your pet makes a magic attack at a
target up to 6 squares away
Special Action: Shocking Burst
Your pet makes a 1 die magic attack
at all adjacent targets, enemies, and
allies.
Bonus Ability: Lightning Form
As a move action, your pet can
appear in a square adjacent to an
enemy it has attacked on its turn.
On your turn you can choose to use your
move action to move your pet, and choose
to use your action to use your pet’s
action.

Stag
Melee Attack: Antlers
Your pet makes a melee attack at an
adjacent target
Special Action: Charge
If your pet moves at least 2 squares
before attacking, move 1 die from its
defense pool to its melee pool before
the attack. It stays there until the start
of your next turn.
Bonus Ability: Leap
Your pet is excellent at jumping.
On your turn you can choose to use your
move action to move your pet, and choose
to use your action to use your pet’s
action.

Monkey
Melee Attack: Furious Fists
Your pet makes a melee attack at an
adjacent target
Special Action: Distraction
Your pet can take an action to remove
1 die from an enemy’s defense pool
until the start of your next turn.
Bonus Ability: Mischievous
Your pet is excellent at stealing
things, climbing, and hiding.
On your turn you can choose to use your
move action to move your pet, and choose
to use your action to use your pet’s
action.

Porcupine
Melee Attack: Quills
Your pet makes a melee attack at an
adjacent target.
Ranged Attack: Quills
Your pet makes a ranged attack at a
target up to 6 squares away.
Bonus Ability: Prickly
When your pet is defending against
melee attacks, add 1 extra die to your
pet’s defense pool.
On your turn you can choose to use your
move action to move your pet, and choose
to use your action to use your pet’s
action.

Chameleon
Ranged Attack: Long Tongue
Your pet makes a ranged attack at an
enemy up to 6 squares away.
Special Action: Sticky Tongue
When your pet hits with a ranged
attack, it may also move the target 1
square.
Bonus Ability: Color Change
Your pet makes Stealth rolls with 1
extra die (5 dice total).
On your turn you can choose to use your
move action to move your pet, and choose
to use your action to use your pet’s
action.

Gromp
Melee Attack: Head Butt
Your pet makes a melee attack at an
adjacent target
Special Action: Ground Buckle
Roll your melee attack pool. All
creatures adjacent to you must make
a Dexterity check that beats your
result, or be knocked prone.
Bonus Ability: Ground Dweller
Your pet is an excellent digger.
On your turn you can choose to use your
move action to move your pet, and choose
to use your action to use your pet’s
action.
