Final-Term Examination: Summer 2021
Course Code: CSE 313 │Course Title: Mathematical Analysis for Computer Science
Intake: 41, Program: B.Sc. in CSE

Marks – 40
[Answer all the questions]
Outcome SLN Questions Marks
CO3 1. (a) Compute LCM and GCD between 210 and 5A using prime exponent 5
representation method, where A is the last digit of your ID.

CO3 (b) Find out the GCD of (4400,20Y) using Euclidian algorithm 5
representation. [Where Y is the last digit of your id]

CO3 2. (a) Suppose a family has four children. X is the event that first child is a boy 5
and third child is a girl. Y is the event that last child is a boy. Check that X
and Y are independent or not.

CO4 (b) Suppose that any item produced by a certain machine will be defective 5
with probability 0.5, independently of any other item. What is the probability
that in a sample of five items, at most one will be defective?

CO4 3 (a)In a shoe shop the number of selling of shoe each day is a poison random 5
variable with parameter λ=4. Calculate the probability that there is at least Z
number of shoes have been sold in each day.
Here, Z is the last digit of your ID.

CO4 (b) A laboratory blood test is 7X percent effective in detecting a certain 5

disease when it is, in fact, present. However, the test also yields a “false
positive” result for 2 percent of the healthy persons tested. (That is, if a
healthy person is tested, then, with probability 0.02, the test result will imply
he has the disease.) If 0.6 percent of the population actually has the disease,
what is the probability a person has the disease given that his test result is
positive? [where X is the last digit of your ID]

CO4 4. (a) Suppose we toss four coins. What is the conditional probability that tail 4
is in first two coins, given that second and fourth coin is in tail?

CO4 (b) Suppose that whether or not it is a sunny day today depends on previous 6
weather conditions through the last two days. Specifically, suppose that if it
was sunny for the past two days, then it will be sunny tomorrow with

probability 0.6; if it was sunny today but not yesterday, then it will be sunny
tomorrow with probability 0.2; if it was sunny yesterday but not today,
then it will be sunny tomorrow with probability 0.3; if it was not sunny in the
past two days, then it will be sunny tomorrow with probability 0.5.
Create the transition probability matrix and transition diagram.
