For this report I looked at SWOT and PESTLE analysis for different companies and how they use them
to help with improving and showcasing their weaknesses as a whole whilst trading/operating on a
day-to-day basis.
Findings:

For this report, I looked at different resources such as PowerPoint slides, an article on one of the
businesses, Skoda, and Volkswagen with how they have used SWOT and PESTLE analysis to their
advantage as a whole whilst operating.
Introduction:

Strategy helps with the direction of the business over a long term which can helps with the
businesses goals and upholding the stakeholders expectations overall.

Any type of business can use strategy to ensure that there is successful change management by
using things like SWOT and PESTLE.
Skoda:

Skoda has used SWOT analysis to help with their strategy and by showcasing their strength as a
business to compete with other brands within the market by, doing independent surveys from
consumers so that they can continue to improve their service after having feedback from their
consumers.

Skoda used SWOT analysis by identifying the threats to the company such as, by having a strong
product range to compete in different countries to help them with reach a strong brand presence
globally as their cars are mainly branded as ‘ a basic but quality city car’ and as the UK car market
includes different 50 car makers that sell 200 different models and to respond to the different legal
and environmental regulations from different countries as well as the EU by recycling as much as
they can when making the products and selling them in the different regions that it has adhered to.

They also used SWOT to help identify the weaknesses that Skoda has as a business such as,
addressing key questions within the company itself and how they can fit into a highly competitive
market. It also showed that the company has out-dated perceptions and having to change what the
brand means overall whilst they are trading on a day-to-day basis and operating when they are not
trading.

Skoda used PESTLE analysis by helping them identify the different barriers that they need to get
across whilst they are trading as a whole, such as the economic factors
Volkswagen:

The Volkswagen group have used SWOT analysis to help them identify their strengths by creating a
‘strong’ brand image and by having a strong global reach and presence within the market over the
last few years as their worldwide sales revenue is 250.2bn euros as their operating profit is 19.3bn
euros. Volkswagen also identified using SWOT analysis by looking at the plenty opportunities that
they can do such as, investing in sustainable technology and by going into the Indian market as there
is more of a market for motorcycles than cars.

The Volkswagen group have used PESTLE analysis to help the company identify the barriers that they
have to do like the political aspects such as, Brexit which could make the price of the Volkswagen
more than they currently are at the moment. Volkswagen also identified in their PESTLE analysis was
the legal factors such as, labour laws affecting the company as they operate within different
countries on which can provide issues due to remembering when they make their products for
different countries.
