IV. Activities:
November 4, 2022, Friday - The first week of celebrating Reading Month activities
wherein every adviser from Grade 7 up to Grade 12, was instructed to facilitate such activity
during their first period of classes for we sincerely believe that every teacher is a reading
teacher. Learners were advised to bring their own reading materials to be utilized on this event
prior to the said schedule. Electronic reading was also allowed where students read stories
using their cellphones, however, strict guidance was observed through the supervision of the
facilitator. In addition to this activity are the reading outputs of every learner. Students were
provided with a simple story analysis format from the language teacher. This is to ensure that
they really understand what they have read, then the output shall be included in their Portfolio
as part of their performance in English and Filipino subjects.
Week 2- November 9, 2022- Reading is fun if and only if it is properly guided. This activity
simply encourages students to read and love reading. They were given a chance to read all
kinds of books wherever they want. It allows student to read pages of books or any reading
materials in as fast as they can observing the allotted time. Not just like that, of course they
should understand what they’ve read. Then, whoever read an ample page observing correct
pronunciation of words, juncture and diction for the allotted time will surely receive a reward
from his/her teacher or adviser. Such activity was facilitated by their class advisers/ subject
teachers especially the English and Filipino teachers.
Week 4- November 22 – Teachers in English, Filipino and some Araling Panlipunan teachers
conducted and facilitated three contests. 1. Quiz Bee Contest 2. Essay/Sanaysay Contest and 3.
Spelling/Pagbaybay Contest. Each contest is open for all students who wants to participate
from Grade 7 to Grade 12. The elimination round was done by grade level. Once the participant
got the incorrect/wrong answer they are automatically eliminated and can’t proceed to the
next round. In Quiz and Spelling Bee they have three rounds the Easy, Average and Difficult
Round. In Essay/Sanaysay Writing Contest, all participants are given one hour to write their
insight and opinion on a same topic. The championship round is the most exciting part because
each student who successfully continue to the championship round give their very best to
prove that they deserved to be in that position. The teachers enjoyed conducting and
facilitating the said events/contests because of the cooperation and participation of the
students. English and Filipino essay writing contest was facilitated by the teachers from English
and Filipino department and 60 students from different grade level participated the essay
writing contest.
During the elimination round the theme/topic was given accordingly based on the grade level
of the contestant and the mechanics in writing an essay was presented by the facilitator. The
students finished their writing for more than an hour, two writers from every grade level were
chosen to write for the final round in writing.
CULMINATING ACTIVITY
Week 5- November 29 – This day underscores three most awaited event of the month. It was started
with a parade @ exactly 7:30 in the morning by students, teachers, and some parents. The weather is
fine yet the assembly area at Población 2, was once crowded and filled with populous characters on
their specific attire/costumes. It seems that everyone really missed such occasion. The concept of the
costumes was agreed by every grade level adviser and was based on the English subject for Junior High
School, while, for Senior High School their concept was based on their favorite movie / book characters
to wit.
Grade 7- Philippine Literature
Grade 8- Afro Asian Literature
Grade 9- Anglo American
Grade 10 – Greek Mythology
Grade 11- The Good Samaritan, Chefs, The Builders, and Harry Potter
Grade 12 – Gods & Goddesses, Mermaids, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Farmers
Right after the parade, the crowd directly proceeded to Municipal Gymnasium. On this part the
culminating program begun. Students on different Grade levels had presented their own reading
presentations showcasing their talents. Varied voices were heard and flavored the hall through the
different genres presented. The program commenced at exactly 11:45 A.M.
The second part of todays’ activity was held in the school campus, such as the Final Competition on
Spelling, facilitated by JOCELYN M. AMITA- Chairman, CHARMAINE M. PUNGYAN- Pronouncer and
REYVELYN R. MANICAR – tabulator. For this competition Precious Angel Lecaniel - Grade 10 student
bagged the Champion, Janelle Ain Taha- G10 student, 2nd placer, and Barrack Hussin R. Molanta, G8 as
3rd placer. It was then followed by Final Quiz Bee Competition, facilitated by MARYLYN V. ARMODIA –
Chairman and DONA CHERESA GUIRNELLA – recorder.
Finally, at 3:00 p.m. the Learning Center of Senior High School was formally launched. This project was
initiated by Maam SHANIE B. CALOPEZ, District Reading Coordinator and those hundreds hearts of
donors; the GAS G11 & 12 and special mention to those hundred hands of Carpentry students for
making the furnitures evident, and most especially to our school Principal IVAN P. ABAN, for his support
and approval to make this learning Center possible.
