1) Explain in detailed in a paragraph what you understand about safety rules!


Safety rules are rules that we must follow so that we can be safe from any accident
or danger. Safety rules are things that we must really understand and apply either before or
when we are going to do something. Safety rules are used everywhere, not just in the
workplace or laboratory. Because every accident or danger can happen to us anytime and
anywhere. An example of a safety rule is when we enter a laboratory we must wear a
laboratory coat, mask, goggles, and gloves. Another example is that we must not exceed
the specified maximum operating conditions such as pressure and speed. So, we must take
safety rules seriously.

2) Choose one of the equipments from the book (number 1-15) then explain
completely this equipment from many sides (function, users, shapes, etc)
Beaker
The beaker is one of the most important equipment in the laboratory. The beaker
function is used to hold liquids and mix 2 different liquids. Beakers are used by laboratory
workers, technicians, students, lecturers, and scientists. The shape of the beaker is like
ordinary glass, like the letter u, and the bottom is round. The beaker also has a number that
is used to measure the volume of the liquid. The material of the beaker is glass, so we have
to be careful when handling it, because it is easy to break.

beaker is equipment in the laboratory that is used to hold liquids.
b. When should we wear gloves?
We must wear gloves when working in the laboratory, in hospital, and when we
ride motorcycle.
c. Where should we kept toxic materials?
We hsve to kept toxic materials in a locked cupboard.
d. Why do we have to wear gloves when we work in the laboratory?
Because gloves keep our hands safe from toxic materials and other hazards or danger.
e. How do we protect our eyes?.
Wear goggles whenever there is risk to the eyes and do not loot directly at a strong
course of light.
f. Can we ignore the spilled liquid?
No, we're not. Because it can cause irritation when exposed to limbs.
g. Can we not read the safety instructions?.
No, because the safety instruction is the first thing we have to do before install or
operate equipments.
h. Why do we have to wear goggles?
Because goggles can protect our eyes of the risk that comes from powders, liquid
splashes, or vapors.
i. What should we do if we get splashed with liquid?
Wash the body that is splashed with liquid with running water and immediately
report to the laboratory technician.
j. How do we handle spilled liquid?
Spray the spilled liquid with alcohol, then ventilate, then clean by wiping.

a. What preparations do you make before working in a laboratory?
Before working in the laboratory we must make preparations. The first one we have
to understand is about the relevant instructor. Before attempting to install or operate
equipment, all relevent suppliers or manufacturers instruction and local regulations should
be understood and implemented. Do not exceed specified maximum operating conditions
such as temperature, pressure, and speed. The second is about operation. Ensure that we
are fully aware of the potential hazards when operating equipment. We should be
supervised by a competent member of staff at all times when in the laboratory. The third is
about safety device. We have to wear googles, gloves, coats, masks and safety shoes to
protect our body from toxic materials. Fourth, we must already know what we are going to
do, materials, equipment, hazards of materials and how to handle them.
