Starting from 2016, Regina Bacani Minor has started working as our
school’s security guard up to this day. Her shift starts at 6am and ends at
6pm at night. Being our loyal security guard, she ensures our school’s
students' and staff’s safety. During our interview, we asked how her day
was going and she replied that it was more than fine, especially after
seeing us, the students. She also shared her life experiences throughout
her work and how she overcame such a great conflict. Here is what
happens on a day in the life of the Holy Trinity School’s security guard.
Regina Minor, known as “Chief Regi”, starts her day at 4am. Since
her shift starts at 6am, she must arrive at the school early so she wakes
up 2 hours before her call time to prepare for a long and tiring day.
Between 6am-7am, students from different grade levels started to arrive
and sure enough, she was standing at the front gate ready to greet them
one by one with a jolly smile on her face. During school hours, she makes
sure to guard the entrance and assist any students or parents that pass
by with their concerns. And when classes start to dismiss, she ensures
that every student gets home safe, especially pupils from elementary.
After an exhausting day, she finally gets ready to leave the school and
change shifts with her co-security guard, and get some rest for
tomorrow.
The job of a security guard isn’t like any other average job, it takes
a lot of hard work and dedication, and it is extremely challenging
because she endured her work for 6 years. Fortunately, she managed to
bear and live through all this pain and sacrifices by being motivated and
inspired so that she could help her family. We, as a student from Holy
Trinity School, also consider her as a member of the HTS family together
with the whole staff. And this is how a day goes in the life of working as
our school’s security guard.
