Significance of Newton's Laws

1. The first law talks about the natural state of motion of a body.

2. The second law says that if a body is not following its natural state of motion, then there has to be
a net unbalanced external force acting on the body.

3. The third law talks about the nature of the force, i.e., forces exist in pairs.

Can we say that first law can be derived from second law? No, three laws are independent.
Can we say that action occurs before the reaction? No, both occur at the same time.

Properties of Gravitational Force

1. It is independent Of the medium between the particles.

2. It is always attractive in nature.
3. It is the weakest force in nature.
4. It is a conservative force i.e., the work done by it on a particle doesn't depend on the path
taken by the particle; or the work done in moving a particle round a closed path under the
action of gravitational force is zero.
5. The magnitude of force with which one body (say the earth) attracts the second body (say an
apple) is equal to the magnitude of force with which second body (say apple) attracts the
first body (in accordance with Newtons 3rd law).
6. It is a two body interaction i.e., gravitational force between two particles is independent of
the presence or absence of other particles.
7. It is a central force i.e., acts along the line joining the two particles or centres of the
interacting bodies.
As you go deeper in a liquid, the pressure increases.
Sea divers know this quite well.
They wear armored suits while diving, because thousand meters
below the ocean surface, an armored suit protects the diver from being crushed by
the immense pressure of water. As the pressure deep inside the oceans is over 100
times greater than the pressure at the surface.

Why a tennis ball bounces higher on hills than in plains?

Centre of gravity
It is a point where whole weight of the body is supposed to be concentrated.

According to Newton's law Of gravitation, every body in this universe attracts every other
body. But we do not see bodies on the surface of the earth moving towards each other on
account of this force of attraction. Why?
The force of attraction between two: bodies is small due to their small masses, which is less
than force of friction between bodies an floor to cause any acceleration or motion.
