Levy Roots says, ’’ Put some music in your food’’-and that’s exactly what he does. Born in
Jamaica, he helped his grandmother to cook as a child. She taught him how to mix herbs and
spices to create Caribbean flavours. Eventually, Levy left Jamaica for the UK. Despite
enjoying life in Britain, he missed Jamaican food and culture. He loved going to the Notting
Hill Carnival and later had his own stall there. He sold a jerk barbecue sauce that has since
made him famous. He used to make the sauce in his own kitchen. Then, in 2006, he appeared
on a television show to ask business people for help with making and selling his sauce. Two
of them agreed and together they set about promoting the sauce. It was an instant success and
now hundreds of British supermarkets sell it. Today, Levy has a range of Caribbean foods
and drinks. As well as this, he has brought out several cookbooks. Levy also teaches children

London for the first time.

True survival stories-Shark attack
One morning, Sebastian Cozzan, 1 ……………on his wetsuit, 2……………his surfboard and
went to North Palm beach with his mum and brother. Sebastian was nine years old, but he
learnt to surf soon after he learnt to walk, and he was 3……………….forward to another day
playing in the waves. He had a great time, and when it was time to go, he begged his mum for
two more minutes. She said yes and he paddlet out to sea. Suddenly, a small shark

him off his surfboard and into the water, but Sebastian didn’t panic. He kicked the shark until
it released his foot , and then he swam back to the shore. Sebastian needed 80 stiches in his
foot, but he made a full recovery, and was soon out surfing again!
