Visa Formalities in Gabon

Key learnings: Visa requirement is major problem for Expats. It take days to get Visa for Expats.
Manpower requirement should be identified earlier start of project and to speed up the documents
towards work permit, entry authorization, and residence permit. In this process it would be to save cost
and time to mobilize expat manpower.

3. Visa Formalities in Gabon
Requirements:

 Generally throughout the project manpower requirement will be there. So

keeping of timely completion of EPC project mobilization of manpower also

plays a major role. So visas issuance to expats is also a critical activity.

Challenges faced:

 Due to lengthy bureaucratic process, visas were getting delayed leads project

progress delayed.

 This led to critical situation of mobilize the manpower on the site in a timely

manner.

 We were facing lot of challenges in getting the work permits, Entry

Authorization. As per Gabon’s policy, only limited expats can be mobilized

to Gabon due to high volume of unemployment situation.

 The project team was expecting right person on right time. But due to above

lengthy visa process, the same could not take place on time.

Impact:

 As per the manpower planning, quick processing of E-visas was expected.

 Manpower requirement should be well organized 2 to 3 months before starting

the project.

 We had not hired any dedicated personnel to new site at the initial stage to

forecast the compliances of visa rules.

How we Improved:

 Local laisoning officer is procured, he is responsible for all the process of

documents.

 To timely getting visa a Local Strong laisoning officer we procured.

Improvation needed when working in Gabon:

 Proper Manpower Planning. Identification of manpower should be planned

well in advance so that the entire visa process is smooth and swift

 Processing of documents for work permit well in advance.

 Need Strong laisoning with Immigration Authority to get the work permit in

time.
