PRINCIPLE 4 (Acts 27:21, 25)

A LEADER SPEAKS WITH AUTHORITY

When the prediction of Paul came to pass, he used the opportunity to remind them in the ship
that he had counselled them against the trip at that time. Then he stated his view of the
outcome boldly drawing himself as God’s man of the hour to centre stage.

How then could Paul be so bold in the face of such a great trial?

(a) He knew his subject (God had given him His word).
(b) He didn’t have to fake sincerity, he meant it.

NOTE: People are looking for authority. If you have the Truth, speak it (Jeremiah 23:28).
Based on God’s Word, not on strong natural personality. (Matthew 28: 18-20 and 1Timothy
4:11).

PRINCIPLE 5 (Acts 27:22, 25)

A LEADER STRENGHTENS OTHERS

Paul knew the Word of God to him was firm because he knew his God. He (Paul) acted on
that sure Word (Rhema) by using it as an encouragement to his companions in the midst of a
bad situation exhorting them to “be of good cheer!” (1Thess. 5:14).
