Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the module, you should be able to:
1. Identify the stakeholders of the events industry.
2. Analyze the interrelationship of industry
stakeholders.
3. Classify the role and expertise of a Professional
Congress/Event Organizer and the roles played by the
host community in the event industry.

Introduction:

This module will give you more understanding


about the events industry. Lessons on this will
identify who are the stakeholders of the events
industry and their relationship with each other.
Part of discussion will be the roles and types of
Professional Congress/Event Organizer and the
various roles that the host community plays in the
industry. So, stay alive, alert, awake, and
enthusiastic, bright students! Fighting!
Lesson – Who are the Events Industry
Stakeholders?

STAKEHOLDERS

Refer to the parties who hold a stake or interest in


the projects or industry. Other definition tells that
a stakeholder is a party that has an interest in a
company and can either affect or be affected by
the business.

The stakeholders in the event industry can be


classified into four major categories:

1. Professional Congress Organizer (PCO) / Event


Manager
2. The Community
3. Service Suppliers
4. Government Offices and Regulatory Bodies

As you continue to learn about our topic, for this


module’s activity you are required to visit a website of a
Professional Congress Organizer and identify its services.

Assessment

Since you have learned about the events industry


stakeholders and their roles, what you will do is to draw
a diagram illustrating and explaining the
interrelationship of the stakeholders of the events
industry.
Reflection

Events Industry stakeholders are especially


important in an event planning because they can be
affected by the event and the event also can be affected
by the type of evaluation received by the stakeholders.
Now, as you learn about our discussion it is time for you
to share your brilliant thoughts about the lesson by
answering the following questions:

1. Identify the stakeholder categories of the events


industry.
2. Define the role and expertise of a Professional
Congress Organizer (PCO).
3. Explain the importance of the second major
stakeholder/associations in the MICE industry.
4. Identify the services offered by the different PCO’s
you have searched (please refer to the activity portion of
this module).

You may type in your reflection on a blank sheet, 8.5” X


11”, using Arial, 12 font size, together with your
drawing/illustration on the assessment portion of this
module and submit it to your professor ONSITE.
