• The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) founded in 1904 is the global body for
professional accountants. It is a professional accountancy qualification that benefits from global
recognition.

• It is one of the world’s leading and fastest-growing international accountancy organisations. The
ACCA qualification is recognised by employers all over the world and equips you to get senior
positions in accounting and finance. Becoming qualified allows you to earn an annual salary of up to
£65,000. As an ACCA member, you will have access to a global network of the most successful
accountants and a range of unique resources. These include free accounting and auditing advice, as
well as technical updates.

• ACCA gives an opportunity to gain B.Sc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes
University.

The ACCA qualification requires students to complete:

• 13 exams (9 of which are eligible for exemption)

• Relevant practical experience, with a minimum of 3 years

• An online professional ethics module.

Embedded in the ACCA Qualification are the global accounting education standards set by the
International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). There is a strong focus on ethics, professional values
and governance. These are examined at the highest level in the ACCA Qualification and are a core
element of your practical experience requirements

the ACCA qualification, Registers with the ACCA (www.accaglobal.com) prior to any deadline that is
relevant to enable entry to chosen examination papers, Pays fees and subscriptions on time.

The number of exemptions you can claim will depend on how closely your previous qualifications
match the content of the ACCA syllabus. For example, if you have completed a relevant degree
from an ACCA-accredited university, you may be eligible to claim exemption from up to all nine
exams within the Fundamentals level. No exemptions are available from the Professional level.
LSBF/InterActive advises students to check their starting point and obtain written confirmation of their
exemption status from ACCA before embarking on any course of study.

Being awarded exemptions assumes students have the knowledge required to progress with their
chosen course. It is a student’s responsibility to ensure that they are completely up-to-date with prior

As mentioned, progression to full membership of the ACCA involves

• Professional Ethic modules:

Students are required to study and sit an online module in Professional Ethics. It is recommended that
it be taken at the same time as SBL.

• Practical Experience Requirement:

PER is the vital part of the ACCA qualification. It develops trainees’ professional knowledge and values,
ethics and attitudes required to perform their work with professional competence.

You must have 3 years relevant practical experience, which can be obtained before, during or after your
exams. Trainees record their practical experience using Trainee Development Matrix (TDM) which is
the online tool designed for ACCA trainees that you must use to plan and record your workplace
achievement of the Practical Experience Requirements (PER). Performance objectives are identified,
reviewed and signed off by a work place mentor. ACCA has introduced Annual Return to track the
experience you have achieved during the preceding year, which has to be authorised by a work place
mentor.
