1.) What are the characteristics of positive displacement pumps?

Positive displacement pumps produce about. a steady flow over a large

pressure range. Positive displacement pumps are mostly used to transport
highly viscous fluid. There are three types of this sort of pump: rotary,
reciprocating, and linear. Due to the lack of a shutdown head and the fact
that it continues to discharge liquids, this type of pump initially functions
with the valve always turned to the open position, which results in
discharge line leaks. by mechanically moving a fixed volume through the
system while repeatedly enclosing it with the use of seals or valves. Cyclic
pumps can be powered by pistons, screws, gears, lobes, diaphragms, or
vanes to perform the pumping action. Rotary and reciprocating are the two
basic types.

2.) What are the different types of positive displacement pumps?

Progressive Cavity Pump (PC Pump)

Gear Pump – Internal & External
Vane Pump (Impeller Pump)
Rotary Lobe Pump
Screw Pump
Diaphragm Pump
Peristaltic Pump (Hose pump)
3.) Differentiate positive displacement pump and centrifugal pumps?

Positive displacement pumps drive fluid out of the cavity using suction after
drawing the fluid into the cavity or displace the fluid. The fluid is drawn into
centrifugal or aerodynamic pumps by a rotating impeller, which also
accelerates the fluid's exit from the pump's output point.
