GE7 FINAL EXAMINATION

1. How does science and technology affect contemporary life and vice versa? 10 pts

As we approach the twenty-first century, sophisticated technologies have entered homes and
workplaces and have had an impact on current life. Faster communication is made possible by mobile
devices and the Internet. You can clearly see that technology has advanced so quickly over time that its
ramifications are pretty alarming. To enhance the quality of human life, science and technology
collaborate. Numerous developments and discoveries in science and technology are having both favorable
and unfavorable consequences. Science and technology can have numerous benefits and drawbacks for
people and the environment. Technology and science have made life easier. High-tech tools and
machinery make it simpler to complete tasks. It's giving people fewer hours, and our jobs can be done
faster. Today, computers are the most popular and beneficial invention for everyone. Some might claim
that they are powerless without a computer. Some people consider it to be enjoyable. Science and
technology not only demonstrate the benefits but also the negatives that have a profound effect on human
life. The presence of technologies across the globe is largely to blame for the environment's congested,
polluted, and degraded state. Our natural environment is replaced by brand new, enormous buildings and
factories with technology-based proprietors, completely influencing our mother planet. Technology and
science have an effect on how we live and how we feel. Chemicals produced by technology pose a threat
to human health and are likely to be the cause of death and disease.

2. How do we protect our human rights in the face of technological advancements and ethical
dilemmas? 10 pts

By spreading our opinions to a wider audience, technological advancements have given us the
power to defend human rights. By being aware of and using the finest security procedures, we can defend
our rights. It will also be easier to safeguard one's rights if one carefully reads all the terms and conditions
and accepts the appropriate data storage options. Our lives are positively and negatively impacted by
technological advancements. Also, essential to safeguarding our rights is transparency. In order to spot
ethical conundrums, technology must be transparent. These moral quandaries cannot be discussed in
public when technology is implemented in a non-transparent manner. We must remain informed and
make the best use of it.
3. Do you believe that Google makes people stupid? Cite at least three (3) example to support
your assertion. 10 pts
No, it makes us more productive, as does most technology, in my opinion. Depending on how we
use it, absolutely. We can quickly conduct research using Google and learn from a variety of sources. It
also aids in our learning new information or subjects. On the other side, we may say that Google is
making us stupid if we use it to research information without verifying the reliability of the source. It's
crucial to examine further before believing any information you find on Google, especially if it comes
from unidentified sources or pages.
Here are 3 examples to support my assertion.

 Helping students make a greater impact using Google A student’s experience has a profound
impact on their future. Google for Education offers shareable devices and collaborative tools that
help teachers prepare all students with new, more engaging ways to learn the skills they need to
succeed.
 If a person buys something and doesn't know how to use it, he or she can look it up on Google.
 Memorizing trivial things is less important. They can just Google it. They learn many more things
that the generation before them wouldn’t as easily know.

4. Social media also poses certain risks especially in the dissemination of false information. As a
student, how will you use social media to ensure that you do not propagate inaccurate and
unreliable information? 20 pts
Social media also poses certain risks, especially in the dissemination of false information. As
students, we can take the following steps to reduce the dissemination of false information on social
media: Do your research first before disseminating the information. Make thorough research. If you think
it is valid, go ahead. If you see any consequences, mention them too. If you see any pros, mention them
with caution. You don't want people to focus more on the pros than the cons. Secondly, when you give
your opinion, state, "It is my own opinion." It is to ensure that people know that it is your point. They
might blame the person who gave you the information if you did not mention it, which is your point. At
least you can clarify later. Third, make sure to follow your gut after research. If your analysis showed it
was bad to share this information or that it could mislead others, stop. Just stop until you get more
information and release them. If we see any information on social media, we should first verify it with the
correct source, i.e., verified news channels, to create awareness among people. If any information is found
to be wrong, we should post the same on our social media accounts by writing in the caption, "This
information is fake or wrong." We should also discuss with our friends and relatives the circulation of
false information or messages. So that they can discuss it with their friends, and so that more and more
people become aware of the spread of those false messages.
