Lesson Goals:

The learner will learn the research system of the academic disciplines. They

also will be able to use the material from the system to understand more about

engineering and technology when they are done, which is the goal.

Lesson Objectives:

 The learner will understand how to read the periodic table.

 The learner will learn what each element is made up of

 The learner will learn what elements react to what and what they are made

Lesson Components:

Phase 1: Students learn the facts

The students will come to class and sit in their seats. The teacher will pass

out to each of them a periodic table. They will also each get a pencil and markers so

they can fill in the colorful periodic table. The students will ask what they are doing

with this paper.

Phase 2: Students learn about which elements do what

Next, the teacher shows the students the elements from left to right on the

periodic table. As the teacher says the names of each element, the students will

write them down and say them out loud. By doing this, the students would

understand the elements better and remember them as well.

Phase 3: Students will recite what they know

Then, when the teacher has finished reading all the elements, the students

will go in order to recite one element after each another. The teacher will call on

one student at a time to go in order to say one element. They will also tell what type

of element it is as well. Some students may forget what type of element it may be,

but the teacher and their classmates will be able to help them.

Evaluation:

The teacher will grade each student as they recite the element. The teacher will also

grade how well the student remembers what type of element does what and the

location it is on the map. This will be more of a completion grade and participation

grade if they are able to remember at least two out of three of the questions.
