6.7 Minimum Thickness of Unstayed Dished Heads with the Pressure on the
Convex Side The minimum thickness of an unstayed dished head made of
Steel plate with the pressure on the convex side shall be 1.7 times the minimum
thickness of the head with the pressure on the concave side.
6.8 Minimum Thickness of Unstayed Flat Plates
6.8.1 The minimum thickness of unstayed flat plates, such as heads.
cover plates or bottom plates, shall be determined by the following formula:
[Except the cases shown in Fig. 6-2 (i) and (J)}.
(1) Circular Flat Plates
alate {taf Pra}
(2) Non-Circular Flat Plates

where, in (1) and (2)
minimum thickness of the flat palte (mm)
maximum working preseure (kgf/em?) {MPa}
diameter or shortest span, measured as indicated
in Fig. 6.2 (mm)
get allowable tensile stress of the materiel (kgf/mm?)
{N /mm?}
not less than 1 mm for additive thickness

larly ta the shortest span Comm)
c: factor depending on the method of attachment of
flat plates as formulated in the following.
(2) For flat plates holted with full-face gasket to a chell, a Menge or
a side plate as shown in Fig. 6.2 (a), it shall be 0.25,
(b) For fist plates butt-welded to a shell or « pipe conforming to the
requirements for circumferential joints es shown in Fig. 6.2 (b)
with ¢ 600 mm or under, thickness of flat plate 0.05 to 0.25 7
and not less than the thickness ef ohell plate, end inside corer
radius 0.25 ¢ or over, it shall be 0.13.
(c) For flat plates forged integrally with shell or pipe or butt-
welded to a shell conforming to the reauirements for circumfer-
ential joints as shown in Fig. 6.2 (c) and having thickness of flange

(a) For flat plates forged integrally with shell or opie or butt-
welded to a shell conforming to the requirements for circumfer-
ential joints es shown in Fig. 6.2 (4). C = 0.17
