CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

YouTube was registered on February 14, 2005. By Steven Chen chad. Chad hurley and jawed

karim. Three former employees of the American eccomerce company PayPal. They had the idea

that ordinary people would enjoy sharing this "HOME VIDEOS". The company headquartered

in San Bruno, California. One of YouTube's key benefits to students is that it is a free website

resource that offers condensed knowledge regarding particular academic themes. Teachers may

quickly look up and watch videos that relate to a particular idea or body of knowledge, and

Then they can provide the pupils with pertinent material.According to research, some students

learn more effectively when using visual aids, and YouTube is one such visual help. Students

that learn visually benefit from being able to physically see what is being taught, which makes it

easier for them to comprehend the course material. It's a place for open dialogue and discussion,

making it engaging. Some of the disadvantages of youtube is, it is not good for children to be

used without parents. There is no proper guideline to upload any contact age . Bullying and

defamation. This platform is sometimes reported to have a significantly negative impact on their

sleep. As well as negative impact on body image, bullying and fear of missing out
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1. What is the impact of youtube on students?

2. How does youtube affect academic performance?

3. What are the positive and negative effects of youtube on students

4.How many hours do students spend on YouTube?

A. 1-3 hours?

CHAPTER 2

FOREIGN LITERATURE

Collaboration in the study and teaching of foreign languages has long been a popular idea.

This idea centers on the learners and encourages them to learn a language through shared and

experiential learning. The internalization of one's own or other people's experiences that build on

one's prior experiences or knowledge is seen as the most effective way for learners to learn. If the

actions are exhibited "correctly," it is assumed that the learning that can come from the

experience is a thing called "knowledge." The literature on training and development generally

holds to this viewpoint (Moon, 2001). The concept of instructors as partners in the teaching and
learning process marks a departure from conventional educational practices. Also, more and

more teachers are discovering the value of encouraging learners' autonomy.

The notion of collaborative learning and teaching foreign languages has been popular for

decades. This concept focuses on learners and encourages them to learn a language through

experiential and shared learning. Learners are believed to learn best if they learn through the

conscious or unconscious internalization of their own or observed experiences, which build upon

our past experiences or knowledge. There is an assumption that the learning that can result from

the experience, if the activities are manifested "properly," is a commodity called "knowledge."

This tends to be the view of the training and development literature (Moon, 2001). Within this

concept, the role of teachers as collaborators in the teaching and learning process represents a

change from traditional educational patterns. Moreover, increasing numbers of instructors are

realizing the importance of motivating student autonomy in EFL (English as a Foreign

Language) classrooms. In this paper, I will consider to what extent the concept of a teacher as a

collaborator can be applied to the university EFL classes in Taiwan and how to motivate EFL

learners’ autonomy via YouTube. Attention is first paid to the theoretical grounding of the

concept and the characteristics of a teacher as a collaborator. Following this, the English

education contexts in Taiwan are highlighted in order to consider how far this concept can be

achieved. Finally, conclusions will be drawn from this small-scale exploration.

LOCAL LITERATURE

Ultimately, the article raises concerns on the social consequences of political brokerage

stirred by YouTube’s complicity and its inadequate regulatory mechanisms that shape and allow

the transgressive ways influencers circumvent moderation. More broadly, this project helps
interrogate the quandary about public accountability arising from the capacity of influencers and

social media platforms to construct and curate political discourses that have long-term

implications for democratic spaces and institutions. It offers a framework for how governance

and regulatory discussions should regard influencers as central actors within such networked

political spheres that cut across normative boundaries of digital platforms, internet cultures and

media systems. YouTube is a particularly popular website for sharing online videos. It is used

not only for entertainment and commercial purposes, but also to disseminate and obtain

information and knowledge about science and medicine. So far, little is known about science and

health communication via online video platforms such as YouTube. This chapter reviews and

summarizes the limited but growing research literature on science communication, science, and

medicine published on YouTube. It shows the most important R&D and points out knowledge

gaps and gaps. The chapter concludes with a perspective on how current Internet research ideas

can be used to better understand and analyze science and medicine on YouTube

FOREIGN STUDIES

This report provides the findings of a study that used learner-generated movies to

innovate teaching. The YouTube channel was particularly designed for a marketing course, and

the videos were made for it. Despite YouTube's promise as a learning tool in the classroom, there

aren't many instances of people using it to access learner-generated content. In this project,

students had the option to voluntarily contribute to the production of videos, which the

instructors then uploaded to the channel. Students filled out a survey at the end of the course to

gauge their happiness and learning outcomes. The results demonstrated a direct relationship
between active involvement and perceived cross-curricular competency acquisition as well as

academic success. While involvement did not directly improve student satisfaction or subjective

learning, it produced an indirect influence through interdisciplinary skills. By demonstrating how

the use of YouTube as a teaching tool and learner-generated content has a favorable effect on

students' learning outcomes and satisfaction, this research adds to the body of prior literature.

Researchers and teachers have recently paid a lot of attention to YouTube as a teaching tool.

Therefore, the study in question looks into this occurrence. To examine student views, attitudes,

and intentions to adopt YouTube as an instructional tool, a modified conceptual model based on

the technological acceptance model (TAM) was presented. 377 enrolled students from a certain

university were chosen using non-probability sampling for the quantitative study. SPSS 25 and

AMOS 25 were used for descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling, respectively, in

order to analyze the data. While adoption of YouTube as a teaching medium was expected to be

the result, attitudes and intentions were offered as antecedents of perceived usefulness of

YouTube and perceived ease of use. The major conclusions indicated that, in comparison to

perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness was seen to have a more substantial impact on

students' impressions of learning using YouTube. Additionally, it was found that of all the

investigated hypotheses, the association between the intention to use YouTube and the use of

YouTube as a teaching tool was the strongest. The conclusions led to recommendations for

educators and researchers. Then recommendations for additional research were made 002E.

LOCAL STUDIES

This paper examines platform governance and accountability in light of influencers'

expanding involvement in the creation of political discourses, and in particular, how their

integration into networked assemblages allows them to mediate anti-media ideological frames. In

order to study the sociotechnical relationships between influencers, the platform, and its users, as

well as how this dynamic assemblage engages in the intermediation of anti-media populism, we

employ the idea of "networked political brokerage." The study is based on a critical analysis of

the network and discursive strategies used by Filipino YouTube influencers to promote partisan

political commentary and false narratives to discredit mainstream media organizations through

issue network analysis regarding the franchise refusal and eventual closure of the oldest media

network in the Philippines, ABS-CBN. We analyze how platform affordances and usage cultures

are utilized by influencers too. The cultural crossings between music, new digital media, prison

and postcolonial Philippine culture form the basis of Dangerous Mediations, which provides a

close, intertextual reading of a contemporary prison performance to question the assumptions

behind seemingly familiar, entertaining audiovisual media content. Through the lens of critical

cultural studies, and ethno/musicology, I examine the interplay between Michael Jackson’s

renowned hit Thriller (1983) and a specific interpretation of this work by a group of 1500

Filipino inmates at the Cebu Provincial Rehabilitation and Detention Centre

(2007).0020Rereading Jackson’s impact on popular music and culture in light of

postcolonialism, penology, popular music studies,YouTube theory, and in relation to Philippine

culture, I trace the evolution of this contemporary music and dance practice within Cebuano

culture, as it is transformed and mediated online. I address the prevalent idea of music as an

innately positive power, and through a close reading of this irresistible performance, I

deconstruct prevailing (dangerous) stereotypes regarding the ‘inherently musical Filipino.’

Reflecting on how, why, and to what effect popular performance can pollinate across cultures
and nations, I demonstrate how audiovisual digital platforms such as YouTube can play an

important role in shaping our understanding and experiences of the world we live in. Focusing on

the performances made by inmates, by Filipinos, by amateurs, I show that we are able not only to

historicise the effects of the disenfranchised, but through a close reading of the intertextual,

hybridized mediated performance, we may also gain access to and gradually understand that

which might otherwise have remained invisible.

CHAPTER 3

RESEARCH DESIGN
The design used in this study is descriptive. Descriptive research studies are often

expensive and require skillful and competent research personnel to conduct them effectively.

They require skillful planning if they are to be used effectively by management in decision

making. Most of the research studies in the field of communication involve descriptive research.

This type of research is used when the purpose of the research is: 1.) to describe the

characteristics of certain groups or objects. 2.) To estimate the proportion of people in a specified

population who behave in a certain way. 3.) to make specific predictions and 4.) To determine

whether certain variables are associated. (Harding, 2013).

POPULATION AND SAMPLING

The researcher use the purposive sampling. This type of method, also

Known as judgment sampling, involves the researcher using their expertise to select a sample

that is most useful to the purposes of the research .

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

The researcher use the survey questionnaire , to figure out the impact of YouTube use on

students' academic performance and to gather the necessary data, they distributed a survey to

grade 12 students, and they responded and then tabulated the result
