I. Introduction
PT Santosa Makmur Sejahtera Energy award PT. Surya Sakti Sukses to conduct the
Simple Inspection of 2 Pole AC Generator 18000 KW in PLTU Bolok – Kupang. The simple
inspection of the generator conducts with rotor still in position without pulling out. For the
general purposes of the inspection generator is for maintain condition of the generator.
The inspection conduct by visual inspection of the end winding. Looseness on the stator
winding spacer has been observed. In the Exciter End Position 1 spacer has been fell out
and 90% of the spacer is loose. In the Turbine End Position 5 spacer has been fell out and
90% of the spacer is loose.
The ties binding of the stator winding is loose and some of the tie’s binding has been moved
from the original position.

IV. Conclusion & Recommendation.

The spacer winding and ties binding looseness is rare case for the generator with normal
operation, the fall out of the material of the spacer during operational can cause catastrophic
failure in the generator. We recommendation to full assessment of the generator with
retightening and reinforced 100% of the looseness. Below scope is recommended:
- Pulling out generator rotor.
- Assessment of main stator:
a. Visual inspection of main stator wedges & core.
b. Stator wedges analyzer test of main stator.
- Assessment of main rotor:
a. Visual inspection of main rotor wedges & core.
b. Repetitive Surge Oscilloscope (RSO) of main rotor.
c. NDT journal bearing, fan blades by PT and UT.
d. NDT Generator Retaining Rings by UT.
- Retightening & Reinforced main stator binding and spacer.
- Cleaning main stator, main rotor, and exciter.
- Final electrical test main stator, main rotor, and exciter.
- Dry varnish main stator, main rotor, and exciter.
- Pull in main rotor.
- Final assembly generator.
