STUDENTS’ UNDERTAKING

The Makeni College of Education was established in order to inculcate keen knowledge in totality
to both male and female Muslim and non-Muslim youth. To achieve this, the College has its rules
and regulations. Students joining the college must observe the rules and regulations and bear the
consequences of defaulting. All students must realize that this is a privilege and are under
obligation to:

1. Attend regularly and with punctuality all prayers, Bayans (lecturers and Quran) recitations
sessions) in the Mosque.
This rule is strictly for Muslim students.

2. Attend all class lecturers with punctuality and perform academic duties as required.

3. Any indecent dressing will not be tolerated. Makeni Islamic Society does not allow sleeveless
tops, dresses that are transparent to show through, tight trousers that shape the body, and
short skirts.

4. Take interest in activities organized by the College.

5. Take good care of college property in general. Students who lose/break college property shall be
made to replace it.

6. Realise the following areas are strictly out of bounds except with official permission:

(a) Staff houses
(b) Central Administration
(c) Lecture Halls during weekends

7. Avoid illegal electrical connections in the lecture halls.

8. Observe the regulations governing going to town, contact with visiting family members,
friends and outside people and establishments.

9. Enhance the bonds of Islamic brotherhood and shun all forms of segregation. Mingling
between opposite sexes is not allowed on the college premises.

10. Submit a medical examination report, inclusive of HIV test to show medical fitness at
enrolment. The medical report treated as a confidential document.

11. Observe and obey the regulations and disciplinary codes which are a right to the college
and a duty of the student to follow.

12. Face legal proceedings in the court of law in the event of defaulting in the civil or criminal
law of the state; and will bear/face the cost thereof and/or any penal consequences
resulting from it.

13. Show regard to authority, tutors, fellow students and those elderly as demanded by the
Islamic code of life.

14. Follow the laid down administrative channels in all forms of communication.

15. Accept that whatever is not mentioned in this undertaking will be as stipulated in the
Islamic code of conduct.

16. Not mount on walls of lecture rooms or circulate material/literature bent on disturbing the
academic or social environment of the college.

17. Accept that in case of discontinuing any of the programmes for reasons which are not
