Zebras are unique in that they have stripes that cover their entire bodies.
The star-nosed mole is an animal named the star-nosed mole because it has a star instead of a
nose in the place where it should have a nose, and lives mainly in the United States and
northeastern Canada. The star-nosed mole is the only mammal known to be able to smell
underwater, and its sense of smell and hearing is very developed to survive. The star-shaped nose
is doing just that. More than 100,000 nerve fibers are entangled in 22 bumps, which collect and
eat food movements through the organ. Just 0.2 seconds until this time can be measured that he
has a great sense to survive. In short, it is an animal full of peculiarities.
Everyone knows how fireflies got their name, but many people don't know how the insects produce
their signature glow. Fireflies have dedicated light organs that are located under their abdomens. The
insects take in oxygen and, inside special cells, combine it with a substance called luciferin to produce
light with almost no heat. Firefly light is usually intermittent, and flashes in patterns that are unique
to each species. Each blinking pattern is an optical signal that helps fireflies find potential mates.
Scientists are not sure how the insects regulate this process to turn their lights on and off. Firefly light
may also serve as a defense mechanism that flashes a clear warning of the insect's unappetizing taste.
The fact that even larvae are luminescent lends support to this theory.
