C. Nature of Business
Why are lumpia such a big deal? Filipinos celebrate everything with food, and
lumpia are a required staple of the buffet table. Lumpia can be served as finger foods
or sometimes as a main dish depending on the occasion. Why did we call our business
Goldie’s Lumpia? We were inspired by the color gold. Wherein if a lumpia is cooked
under hot oil, the finish product would be a golden brown lumpia stuffed with different
flavorful fillings. That is why we were able to call it Goldie’s Lumpia. We Filipino’s love
foods being fried. We also believe that lumpia is one of these staple food that will
never run out in the market. Therefore, we were inspired by this situation and come
up with a decision to have it as our business opportunity.

II. Executive Summary

There are many different varieties of lumpia that is commonly bought in grocery
stores and supermarkets. In the Philippines, different varieties of lumpia are currently
being patronized by buyers, from lumpia shanghai, chicken lumpia, vegetable lumpia,
fish lumpia and a lot more based on the preference of the customers. Our business
called Goldie’s Lumpia has been created by the creative minds of every member. This
business will be the front liner in providing the needs and preferences of those
customers who love all varities of lumpia being served. We offer online selling and
free delivery for every 1 dozen of purchase of our product within Calbayog City proper.
We are also open for distributors who wish to offer our product to a wider business
coverage.

III. Industry Analysis

A. Future Outlook and trends
Lumpia is a traditional Filipino dish. To grow sale, the Goldie’s Lumpia must
continually adopt to evolving consumer’s trends. Among the most important trends
facing the industry are those associated with healthful eating choices, sustainability
and the environment, cultural change and its influence on innovation, and matching
the consumer decision making the successful promotion strategies in Goldie’s
Lumpia.
Lumpia of Calbayog provides consumers with lumpia stuffed with variety of
seafood, meat and assorted vegetables, wrapped and then deep fried into a crisp,
delicious delicacy. As we invested in our business we learned that as we produce
more product the more we earn our profit and our capital had bought back to us
and increase more. We aim to build our own Goldie’s Lumpia snack house that
serve more delicious lumpia. The business gets more popular also. Our target
market will grow and the potential that we look in a risk to be a big hit in the industry
of Calbayog City.

B. Analysis of Competitors
There is currently little to no direct competition in the local area, as the only
other place to purchase lumpia is in Supermetro, Gaisano Grand Mall and the
Calbayog City Wet Market, and it is neither popular nor well-known. The
readymade lumpia which is being sold to those areas are the same as being
provided by one specific supplier. This gives Goldie’s Lumpia a distinct competitive
advantage, as well as the fact that it is a fresh, home-made product that can be
prepared just as simply as the store bought brands or fried directly for the customer
upon a catering request. Goldie’s Lumpia is unique on its own because we cultivate
the taste of Filipino dishes as fillings for our lumpia products. Thus, unlike other
types of lumpia we also offer lumpia made of fresh vegetables since we also care
the health and lifestyle of our customers. There is also the element of personal
connection that the Goldie’s Lumpia establishes with each customer, using a polite
attitude and a friendly smile to have customers keep coming back for more.
C. Market Segmentation
Our Goldie’s Lumpia will have the following market segments:
 Local residents
 Tourists
 Students
 Travelers passing through
These groups are all potentially strong customer segments. The benefit of his
mix of customers is that it helps maintain consistent business throughout the year.
The other customer segments (local residents, local business and pass-through
travellers) provide a consistent foundation all year long.
Also, by appealing to several market segments, Goldie’s Lumpia does not
become overly dependent on any single consumer group.
Local residents with more than 2000 barangays in the city of Calbayog will surely
patronize this product most especially that we offer authentic Filipino dishes as
fillings of our Lumpia and of course our very own Tinapa as one of the delicacy of
Calbayog made as a filling for our product Goldie’s Lumpia.
Tourists. More than 500,000 tourists visit Calbayog City every year. Most will pass
by the National Highway of Calbayog City. Tourist come to see the beauty of
Calbayog City we would also love to showcase our very own delicacies with the
help of these lumpia field with Calbayognons local taste.
Students. Calbayog City is home to a dozens of schools elementary and
secondary, including many private and public schools and university.
Travelers. Since our business is located near the National Highway wherein,
pedestrians and travelers would surely pass by. There is a higher possibility of
higher customer awareness and market acceptability.

D. Industry Forecasts
In Calbayog City there is a large present and potential market of lumpia
based product. The current trends in the industry are operating profitably. As a
beginner in this business, we positively look for the success of our venture. There
are some pointers that we should follow. The main characteristics of our the lumpia
market can be summarized as follows:
 Never ending demand
 Small number of competitors
 High consumption growth
 Minimum price elasticity
 Low threat of substitute
 Easy reach of distribution
 Affordable to the consumer

IV. Description of Venture

A. & B. Products and Services
Goldie’s Lumpia will be selling lumpia, and will purchase ingredients, (85%
ground chicken meat, frozen veggies, eggs, and wrappers) at SuperMetro or
Gaisano Grand Mall. The lumpia will be made in the kitchen of the sole proprietor’s
home, and kept in the freezer in the home as well.
Goldie’s Lumpia competitive advantage will be the lack of competition, and
the fact that the only close competition is frozen packaged lumpia from Supermetro
and Gaisano, and it is practically unknown and sold at a price that doesn’t compete
in the market.
Goldie’s Lumpia will serve different varieties of lumpia stuffed with flavorful
fillings. The varieties of lumpia include the following:
 Lumpiang Tinapa – the lumpia wrapper is suffed with 100% tinapa. Tinapa
is a Calbayog City’s delicacy where tourist patronize.
 Lumpiang Adobo- lumpia wrapper stuffed with a flavorful adobo Filipino
style recipe. (Customer may choose chicken meat or beef)
 Lumpiang Ubod- ubod is the heart of the coconut palm tree and is the main
ingredient of this delicious fresh (or fried) lumpia. It’s deliciously fresh tasting
with a crunch that remains despite being cooked, a great alternative to the
usual fresh lumpia.
 Lumpiang Pusit- the lumpia stuffed with flavorful stirfied octopus.
 Lumpiang Hipon- lumpia wrapper stuffed with ground spiced hipon.
Lumpia prices will be low, the public perception of the product will be that it
is meant to be purchased in large quantities, and that even if it seems to have a
higher price, it will still be worth buying, as it is hand-made with quality ingredients.

the most profit, we buy bulk of ingredients at wholesale stores to save money on

Instructions
For your business, each category of expense may either be fixed or variable, but not both.

The categories of expense shown above are just suggestions. Change the labels to reflect your
own accounting systems and types of business.

One of the best uses of breakeven analysis is to play with various scenarios. For instance, if
you add another person to payroll, how many extra sales pesos will be needed to recover the
extra salary expense? If you borrow, how much will be needed to cover the increased
principal and interest payments? Many owners, especially retailers, like to calcuate a daily
breakdown. This gives everyone a target to shoot at for the day.

Definitions:
Breakeven Point
Your breakeven point is where your profit equals zero. As long as your gross margin is greater
that zero, every unit sold after you have reached your breakeven point will add to your
profitability. If your gross margin is less than zero, regardless of the number of unit sold you
will always loose money.

Fixed Costs
Fixed costs are those that remain the same regardless of your sales volume. They are
expressed in pesos. Rent, insurance and real estate taxes, for example, are usually fixed.

Variable Costs
Variable costs are those which change as your volume of business changes. Inventory, raw
materials and direct production labor, for exmple are usually variable costs
