The Talent is on a paper

Human talent has always had a special place in the evolution process. The adroitness by which it
performs tasks sets it apart from its predecessors. Come with it all the skills and the talent(s)
which the institutions measure to judge whether we are on par with the greatest minds of the
generation. The deviation is not allowed from the parameters as there is only one fixed system to
judge - GPA/CGPA/Grades/Marks. Flexibility is not the norm. Whatever appears on the
paper(marks sheet) is the touchstone of mapping a PROSPECT because slogging through books
all over the year and then reprinting the same is meant to check your ingenuity. The repartee gets
ironical when we remember the famous quotes that "books are meant to free us from the shackles
of..." or "increase our already vivid imagination..." etc. Anything outside the curriculum(though
how important it may be) is frowned upon because learning it won't add stars to your paper. All
this reinforces the belief that talent is innate or 'Prodigies are born not made'. But consider the
case of Richard Branson whose rags to riches story, being dyslexic, is second to none. Such
instances do tell us that Resilience, creativity and an ability to work effectively with others, are
also vital outcomes of a rounded education.
The problem is that qualification has become a good proxy for knowledge." Whatever is there on
the paper defines your skill sets and there appears a tiny window of opportunities apart from
following the system. Abstaining from doing so is a different struggle in itself. The question that
remains is till when will this quagmire remains unsolved?
