4. FUNCTION PRINCIPLE OF HOIST The tubular swivel joint (1) permits secure fastening of the hoist
wheel on the bracket adapter.
WHEEL WITH DROP BRAKE
The hoist wheel with drop brake is patented – Patent No.
99112036.1-2309 – and recognised with the CE symbol in accor-
dance with the provisions of the 2006 / 42 / EC machinery directive.
The pulley support bracket (2) can be swivelled using the tubular
swivel joint, with the pulley (4) rotating about the pulley axle (3).
The two side plates (5) are fastened to the pulley support bracket (2),
and between them are mounted the pulley (4), the movable wedge
brake (7) and the counterweight (8).
5
The pulling force exerted by the person on the rope automatically
releases the wedge brake and allows the load to be lifted. When the
rope is released, the load is automatically held by the wedge brake.
The load to be lifted is fastened on the same side of the rope where The adjustable counterweight is used to adjust the hoist wheel to

the opposite side. which varies depending on its length. Four positions for the counter-
weight relative to the working height of the rope are provided – see
table below.
The working conditions can vary when the rope is wet. In this case,
it is always essential to check the individual functions before putting
it into operation, if necessary adjusting the position of the counter-
weight.
6
5. ROPE FOR HOIST WHEEL Authorised use of hoist rope
The hoist rope may only be used for manual lifting of loads, where
it must be suspended over a movable pulley. The connection of the
load to the hoist rope must be made using additional load-bearing
equipment, such as the supplied shackle, load hook, belts or rope
slings.
7
• Do not use with chemicals! (The soiling usual at construction
sites is harmless)
• Never wrap the rope around your limbs!
• Remove the ropes at once when kinks appear!
• Remove the ropes at once when more than 10 % of the rope
cross-section is damaged at any point!
• Remove the ropes at once when the splice comes undone!
• Store the ropes in a cool and dry place protected from sunlight
(UV radiation)!
• Do not use any ropes more than seven years old.
Wear states and rope damage Kink (remove rope) – wear limit reached!

6. FITTING AND REMOVING THE ROPE Secure the bracket adapter on
the spigot using a hinged pin.
HOIST Alternatively, a locking pin, a pin
with safety clip or an M12 bolt

tor on the ground.
Grasp the rope hanging down on the handling side and take one
step back. This gives the hoist rope the right angle to allow lifting of
the scaffolding material. Watch for any objects that might be lying
around when taking a step back!

• the scaffolding erector lifts the ballast-weighted side of the
hoist wheel with drop brake, thus briefly releasing the wedge
brake so that the rope runs automatically downwards.
Caution: Watch out for the falling loading rope end!
Swing the bracket towards the scaffolding and take the scaffolding
material off the hook.
Important! There are two options for getting the now empty loading
side of the rope back down after material transport:
• an additional weight of 5 kg is permanently attached to the load
hook;

8. TROUBLESHOOTING Counterweight part replacement:
Fault Remedy
The brake reacts with a delay. Check that counterweight setting is
as specified.
10. REPAIR
Wedge brake replacement:
Undo the cross-head screws on the red axle covers at the wedge
axle, then remove these covers. Undo the hexagon-head bolt or nut
of 17 mm AF size using two socket spanner ratchets, then pull out
the hexagon-head bolt. Replace the wedge and reassemble in the
reverse order.
