Reading Material Title Empowering Students in Curriculum Decisions

Which term best expresses the essence of the chapter/paper? Then, in three lines, explain
what the chapter is about to the term you have chosen.

》The phrase that best captures the essence of this chapter will not only emphasize the
value of student input in all decision-making processes at the school but will also pay
close attention to the part that students can play in deciding the structure and content of
the curriculum in their classrooms and schools.

 The emphasis on student participation by Alberta Education has also given me the tools that
need to better identify opportunities for including student opinion at the school level.
 It will be easier for students to understand what is expected of them in the course if they have
the opportunity to choose what is brought into the classroom and how instruction is given.
 By establishing a learning environment where theory and practice can intersect, educators can
acknowledge their students as active participants in the learning process.

What trends or difficulties concerning elementary mathematics & science curricula have you

》These are some of the difficulties concerning mathematics and Science curricula as
follows:

 the extended amount of time needed to actively participate in the process in math and
science classes.

 The teachers' challenges creating shared responsibility communities in their own

classrooms.

Describe and explain how the text relates to you as a student, to your community, and to the
world. Do this in no more than 3-5 sentences.

Text-to-Self
Text to Community
● TEXT-TO-SELF
》 The study emphasized the significance of teachers in the process and
the reality that educators have different notions about what student
participation includes, both of which are relevant to me as a student
and a prospective educator. Also, I've learned that the definition of
student engagement must be made obvious and that everyone taking
part in the transition process needs to be aware of what is expected of
both the instructor and the student. I believe that including students
in the creation of the curriculum can enhance student learning. Goal-
setting is also one of the best strategies for encouraging kids to take
ownership of their education. I can apply what I gained from this text
to my personal growth as a more motivated, engaged learner who
finds the work required to be more important and seems like it has an
impact on my learning experience as a PNUV student.
● TEXT TO COMMUNITY
》 The degree to which the community participates in educational
system decision-making might vary. They range from neighborhood
community groups that are only involved in a small number of
choices to local school management committees that oversee
practically all elements of a school. Formal environmental education
is increasingly being hailed as having as its primary objective
empowering students to act in an environmentally responsible
manner. Being responsible requires our community to contribute to
the advancement of the environment as well as their other qualities.

● TEXT TO THE WORLD

》 Empowering students to put their newly acquired knowledge and abilities into
practice through service learning, discussions of leadership, volunteerism, and
community service, or by voicing their thoughts on "real" concerns like educational
reform. In addition, the text is relevant to today's world because, if we practice
empowering ourselves and actively taking part in organizations and programs, we
may be able to improve it. I really believe that if we are ready and willing to change
the world, we can succeed in our goals.
