Mother’s Day Tulip Origami

You will need:

• A 12cm square of thin paper in the colour
you wish your tulip to be
• A 15cm square of thin green paper
• Scissors
• (Optional) Glue

1) First, take the 12cm square of tulip paper. Place it with

one of the points facing upwards.

2) Bring the bottom point to the top point.

3) Lining up these points, create a crisp fold.

4) Now, open up the paper. Rotate the paper so the fold line
you just created is in a vertical position.

5) Now, bring the bottom point to the top point to fold your
paper in half again.

6) You should have a triangle with a vertical fold line

starting at the top point and running to the base of the
triangle.

7) Now, take one of the side points of your triangle and fold
it inwards. The side point should end up nearly level with
the top point of the original triangle. This will be one petal
of your tulip.

8) Repeat with the other side point. Try to make your tulip
as symmetrical as possible.

9) Next, turn the whole sheet of paper over, keeping these

folded petals in place.

10) Take one of the side points of the shape and fold it
slightly inwards. This will round of the shape of your tulip
petals, and keep the folds in place.

11) Repeat for the other side.

12) Next, retrieve your 15cm square of green paper.

13) Bring the two side corners together to fold the paper in
half.

14) Then open up the paper. Place your paper so the fold
line you just created is vertical.

15) Now, take one of the side points and bring it to the
centre fold line. Create a crisp fold.

16) Repeat this fold for the other side point. You should have
created a shape like this.

17) Turn your paper so the short sides of the kite shape you
have made are at the top.

18) Now, take one of the side points of the kite and bring it
to the centre fold line. Create a crisp fold line.

19) Repeat for the other side point.

20) Now flip the piece of paper again so the folds you just
created are at the bottom.

21) Now, for the final time, take the side points and bring
them to the centre fold line. Create a crisp fold. Repeat for
both sides.

22) You should have a folded shape which looks like this.

23) Next, take the top point and bring it to the bottom
point. Fold.

24) Then, bring the two side points together to fold in half.
There should be a central fold line already here, so this
should be a simple fold.

25) Then, take the pointed shape from the inside of this
folded paper and pull it out to create a stem. Once happy
with the placement, define the folds.

26) Take a pair of scissors and carefully cut a small

triangle from the base of your tulip origami.

27) This will create a small hole. You can then slot the tip
of the tulip stem into this hole.

28) If you would like to, you can secure this with a dab of
glue.
