    Starting with an adjective. They live in a beautiful house.

    The one-word sentence. Alas.

    Starting with a present participle. Even while crying, she still did her work.

    Starting with a subordinate clause. Because she was hungry, the girl ate all the food.

    Starting with a past participle. Excited, the children played with the dog.

    Starting with a simile. Like a lion, the girl was able to win the fight.

    Starting with an adverb. Accidentally, she poured water on him.
