JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
The post holder will contribute to the development of GP Vocational Training in the Isle of Man and take
a lead on its progress.
1. To contribute to the development of the IOM GP Vocational Training Scheme and Plans.
2. To be the IOM Primary Care contact for VT issues with Mersey Deanery.
3. To work with Mersey Deanery to ensure the most appropriate candidates gain positions on the
IOM VT scheme (to help prepare candidates from the IOM for interview by offering advice, but
also a practical session on the assessment centre or stage III of the appointment process
4. To match trainees with trainers and training Practices.
5. To arrange relevant trainee training and support meetings
6. To support trainers by arranging regular trainers meetings.
7. To support prospective and new trainers in becoming appropriately trained.
8. To work with the Department in order that a training plan, ie where the trainees will be placed
during their training, is kept up to date.
The Post holder will be accountable to the Manager of Family Practitioner Services.

Confidentiality
The post holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health
service business in accordance with the Data Protection Act of 2002 and Caldicott principles.
All employees of the DoH must not, without prior permission, disclose any information regarding
patients or staff. In circumstances where it is known that a member of staff has communicated to an
unauthorised person that member of staff will be dealt with in accordance with the DoH’s Disciplinary
Procedure. The Data Protection Act of 2002 also renders an individual liable for prosecution in the event
of unauthorised disclosure of information.
