Aberle Lineal Saga Pamphlet by Craig Scott Aberle, 16 October, 2022,

International Society of Commoners Heraldry registration number 2018155

blazon of arms: Per bend sapine Or and Sable, in chief a Boar's head of the second armed Argent and
langued Gules and in the base a Hunting horn of the first, for crest A garb Or bound Gules debruised by a
shuttle Sable threaded Or, and for mantling Sable doubled Or. Design rationale, eber = wild boar as a
pun on the annunciation of the surname Aberle the hunting horn on a (berg) mountain within the black fir
trees is suggesting the parish of Hornberg which is nestled within the Schwartzwarld or (Black Forest).
The family is descended from those from the Swabian tribal, or stem Duchy. According to the book “The
Black Forest its People and Legends (1885)” By Lisbeth Gooch Seguin, on page 37, the Swabian dwelt
in the Western portion of the Black Forest, having their own special dialect. The Aberle surname is
explained in “The Dictionary of German Names” by Hans Bahlow translated by Edda Gentry (from “The
Max Kade Institute for German American Studies “(University of Wisconsin-Madison 1993) The Aberle
surname on page 2 is as follows,” Aberle, Aberlin is the Swab-Alem. Short form for Abercht or Albercht
e.g, Aberlin. The book, “A dictionary of surnames”, by Patrick Hanks and Flavia Hodges mentions on
page seven, that the ABERLE name is derived from the first name, (Albrecht- Albert) meaning “noble”
“bright “and “famous” (Adal being the root meaning “noble”) Spelling variations are ABERLIN,
ABERLEN and ABERLEE. -Lin, -Len, -Le, and –Lee act as a patronymic, or diminutive, meaning
“little” or “small.” The metal gold and tincture of sable are taken from the arms of Swabia, Johann Adam
ABERLE served as a soldier in the Badische Infantry Regiment von Neuenstine stationed at Freiburg,
in 1825; the arms of the Grand Duchy of Baden consisted of gold/yellow and red as well, which is
reflected in the Crest as follows: a garb of wheat (which is for farming) tethered in red, as gold and red
were the metal and color of Baden. Along with a weaver’s shuttle, as these were the two trades in which
the family was employed.
