Overview of PRCs
PRCs are an important element of effective corrections
management
Community‐based ‘correctional facilities’ operated by
non‐profit Montana corporations under contract with
DOC
Services to adult male and female offenders released
from prison, committed to DOC, or violators
PRC provides supervision, programs, assists with job
search, life skills, and other services

There are seven PRC’s:
Alpha House (male)
Passages (female)
Gallatin County Reentry (male)
Butte (co‐ed)
Great Falls (co‐ed)
Helena (male)
Missoula (co‐ed)
Per contract, at least 50% of each PRC male population
must be from an Institutional setting

Offenders w/ medical/mental health needs assessed to
determine if needs can be met in community

Application / Screening Process
After offender meets above criteria, they complete their
portion of the Application Evaluation (‘universal’)
Screening packet contains:
The referral source sends their packet to the PRC for
review by a local screening committee comprised of
PRC staff, PRC Board member, P&P Officer, LE, and a
local citizen

Inmate workers:
Can be accepted 6 mos prior to residency

All medical/MH needs paid by DOC

assessment for alcohol or drug treatment .
Offenders recommended by the BOPP who need alcohol or drug
treatment before being approved for parole.
All male parolees, conditional release and prerelease offenders
who have received an intervention, on‐site or disciplinary
hearing through probation and parole may be placed in the
sanction treatment beds at CCP in Warm Springs.

WATCh – KNIGHTS Program
Eligibility:
Offenders who have been convicted of Vehicular Homicide while
under the influence. 45‐5‐106 MCA
5 Beds at WATCh West
Requires approval from ACCD Administrator
Participate in regular WATCh program with additional groups and
assignments to address specific issues of taking a life while driving
under the influence.
