ROLE PLAY

Learning Objective:
This activity is designed to demonstrate your competence (understanding) and
performance (skills) when it comes to engaging in appropriate and effective
interpersonal communication exchanges.

1. Students must work in pairs on this assignment.


2. You will be assigned the task of performing a role play according to a selected
scenario with your partner.
3. You will present a role-play in front of the class that demonstrates effective
communication and teamwork.
4. The scenario should fulfil the following criteria:
a. It must be long enough to be acted out in a 10 – 15-minute role play.
b. The scenario can take place in any workplace environment. It can
involve employers, employees, managers, staff, customers etc.
5. Choose appropriate props/ realia that would work best for your situation.
6. Students are responsible for supplying all materials needed for the role play.
7. You are not encouraged to refer to notes or index cards during the role play
session.
8. You must use language that suits the scenario (e.g. formal, semi-formal,
informal, jargon etc.) and demonstrate appropriate body language.
9. You must submit a hardcopy of your dialogue.
10. You may use the Script Template provided to draft your role play dialogue.
11. You can refer to the rubric attached for assessment criteria.
