____________________________________________________________

Chord notes: just fill the 3 missing notes under the melody.

Non Chord Tones: fill the 4 chord tones under the melody note, and
erase the one closest to the melody note.

Tensions: forget the chord tone closest to the melody note.

Hi-Lo: same as tensions

Scale-wise approach notes: the melody becomes the root of a dim

chord

Chromatic approach notes: the whole chord moves chromatically

to the Chord Note in the same direction.

Double chromatic approach: the whole chord moves twice in the

same direction. A dc occurs mostly between 2 Chord Notes.

Delayed resolution: there are 4 possible combinations. Scalewise

or chromatic approach from above or below.

Treat every note separately as if the other doesn’t exist.

Extra info:

You can substitute the root, and take the 9th (or b9 if it is a
dominant chord that resolves)

Tensions always have to resolve a step down

An approach note is always of short duration en preferably not on a

strong beat..

You can have double tensions resolving: 9 & ∆7 to 1 & 6 or (#)11 &
9 to 3 & 1 in a dominant chord. (or 13 & 11 tot 5 & 3)
