BFP LA UNION DEPLOYS ONE HUNDRED PERSONNEL IN ABRA, CORDILLERA

ADMINISTRATIVE REGION

A total of one hundred (100) brave firefighters from BFP La Union were deployed to
augment in the Province of Abra which is known to be the epicenter of the Magnitude
7.0 Earthquake that struck Northern Luzon yesterday at 0843H. After a short briefing
conducted by CINSP BONIFACIO C SACATRAPOS JR, Acting Provincial Fire Director,
and prayer, the team led by SINSP JEFFERSON G HIDALGO, Team Leader, departed
at 0244H early this morning. At 0640H, they finally arrived in Bangued, Abra. Further,
they shall serve as an added manpower and are tasked to help and assist the
authorities therein in rescue operations, emergency medical responses, and as an
added security, as well, especially since aftershocks are anticipated at any time.
Despite the short notice and the distance between, this act of volunteerism and
commitment is proof that we, firefighters, do not just go where duty calls, we look for lost
voices and heed their calls.

BFP LA UNION IN ACTION: THIRD DAY OF ACTUAL OPERATION

No time was left unused in continuous service to our constituents in Abra. Today, our
contingents from BFP La Union and other provinces and regions resumed with
enthusiasm all the necessary tasks they must do. The distribution of relief goods is still
ongoing. Further, the team was divided into groups and they were assigned to resume
inspecting damaged establishments, and houses therein, and continued the retrieval of
properties left within such structures. Another essential thing fulfilled was the medical
mission conducted by the BFP wherein our EMS personnel rendered assistance.
Countless locals have benefited and were helped freely by our medical teams. For now,
going back to normal is certainly uncertain, but one thing is for sure, the Bureau of Fire
Protection will always stay until the situation is safe.
