A pinhole camera's basic function is producing an

image. With a pinhole camera, this image is

usually upside down and varies in clarity. Some

PINHOLE CAMERA people use a pinhole camera to study the

movement of the sun over time (Solargraphy). A

type of pinhole camera is often used to view an

eclipse.

A forerunner of the modern camera, the camera

obscura consisted first of a room, then later of a

portable box with a small opening on one side.

CAMERA OBSCURA Light reflected by objects in the natural world

enters the box through a lens set into the opening

and projects an image onto the opposite surface.

A single-lens reflex camera (SLR) is a camera

that typically uses a mirror and prism system

REFLEX CAMERA (hence "reflex" from the mirror's reflection) that

permits the photographer to view through the lens

and see exactly what will be captured.

A polaroid camera is an instant camera that uses

self-developing film to create a chemically

POLAROID developed print shortly after taking the picture.

“Polaroid” is the name of the brand that created

consumer-friendly cameras that could be used by

the public.

A box camera is a simple type of camera, the

most common form being a cardboard or plastic

BOX box with a lens in one end and film at the other.

They were sold in large numbers during the late

19th and early 20th centuries.

A view camera is a large-format camera in which

the lens forms an inverted image on a ground-

glass screen directly at the film plane. The image

VIEW is viewed and then the glass screen is replaced

with the film, and thus the film is exposed to the

same image as was seen on the screen.

A single-lens reflex camera (SLR) is a camera

that typically uses a mirror and prism system

SINGLE LENS REFLEX (hence "reflex" from the mirror's reflection) that

permits the photographer to view through the lens

and see exactly what will be captured.

A twin-lens reflex camera (TLR) is a type of

camera with two objective lenses of the same

TWIN - LENS focal length. One of the lenses is the

photographic objective or "taking lens" (the lens

that takes the picture), while the other is used for

the viewfinder system, which is usually viewed

from above at waist level.

An underwater camera is basically a camera that

can be used to capture images and videos

UNDERWATER underwater. It can be used for shoots as one is

swimming, snorkeling, or with a remotely

operated underwater vehicle.

A wide-angle lens has a focal length of 35mm or

shorter, which gives you a wide field of view. The

wider your field of view, the more of the scene

WIDE VIEW ANGLE you'll be able to see in the frame. These lenses

are ideal for many scenarios, and most

photographers have at least one trusty wide-

angle lens in their kit.
