BSCE 2B Complaint Letter
BSCE 2B Complaint Letter
We, the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering students, section 2B would like to issue a complaint
concerning our CE 211 (Fundamentals of Surveying) instructor Engr. Mary Christine R. Dela Rosa for
being consistently unavailable to hold classes. I, Jaira Fran T. Pascua, would like to express that I highly
regard all instructors, and I am only putting this letter forth because I am concerned about our education.
The situation is as follows.
Engr. Dela Rosa created a Facebook group and Messenger group chat on September 15 and 24, 2021,
respectively, in order to facilitate students, send lectures, and monitor attendance. Course lectures were
sent on the 27th. However, she is only able to provide updates seldomly and hasn’t followed up a
discussion on her lectures. We only met once virtually for the entirety of the semester.
On December 21, 2021, she instructed us of the midterm requirements we need to accomplish. 1) A
Midterm Exam on January 3, 2022 and 2) A project-assignment that requires us to copy a full-page
document of formulas, handwritten. The midterm examination wasn’t given on the date and a few days
thereafter, and the mode of submission for the project assignment wasn’t given. I tried to reach out by
messaging her, however, she hasn’t responded since.
It was only recently, with the help of our ACES President, Donna Dela Cruz, that we were informed that
Engr. Dela Rosa hasn’t been our instructor for quite some due to some confidential issues. We are deeply
concerned that we were not aware of the changes within the department and of the situation that led to
this.
We are also worried because the subject is fundamental to the engineering discipline, and it becomes
especially concerning that Surveying is part of the Licensure Board Exam that we will be taking. We
would also like to know where Engr. Dela Rosa would get the basis for our Midterm grades.
In light of this situation, we would like to ask for the entire engineering department’s assistance to resolve
and give answers to our concerns.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
