My name is Tanuj Sharma and am currently a sixth semester student at National Law
University Odisha. I take immense pleasure in applying for the position of research assistant
for your current Ph.D. thesis on Third Party Funding in International Investment Arbitration.
Right from my law school, I have been an active student participating and getting laurels in
several co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. I have been strongly inclined towards
activities like debates, elocutions and moot courts. A regular participation in these
competitions has substantially shaped my interests and preferences for the Dispute Resolution
field. Further, most of my internships were focused on arbitration and litigation which shows
that I am strongly inclined towards this field and wish to take it ahead as a career option.
During my last internship, I was allotted the tasks of researching and drafting on multiple
legal aspects of arbitration. In addition to this, I also had the privilege to assist the arbitration
team in a high-profile arbitration matter where I was exposed to the practical aspects of filing
and case preparation. I am also an upcoming intern at the Dispute Resolution team of DMD
Advocates in the month of May.

I strongly believe that with this opportunity, I shall not only be exposed to the subject area of
international investment arbitration but shall also be able to add value to my research skills
which will be an indispensable asset to my upcoming professional career. Currently, I am
doing a moot court competition in the field of international arbitration and one of the issues
that my team is dealing with happens to be on third party funding in International Arbitration.
This not only adds to my relevant experience required for the research but also gives me a
basic background knowledge required for the assistantship.

As an active, zealous and self-motivated intern, I am very keen to assist you in this project as
it will be a stepping stone for my upcoming career in dispute resolution. Further, I believe my
perseverance, which allows me to stay consistent throughout a given project will be an added
asset to this long-term engagement. Therefore, I will be really happy to add constructive
value to your work by completing the tasks allotted to me timely and effectively. I hope to
