You are on page 1of 2

You will be expected to read two (2) news articles related to work, unions, or the

employment relations process and write reports on each. These articles may be from

hardcopies of newspapers or magazines or from the internet (on-line) news sites. The

articles must be from separate news sources (e.g., New York Times, Washington Post,

CNN Website, etc.). To repeat, you will need two different news sources (the New

York Times web edition and hard copy editions are considered the same source, thus

you cannot have two articles from the New York Times, even if one is from the web

and the other from the hard copy). Articles from the Collegian will not be accepted;

neither will articles from union publications (ex. AFL-CIO News, Steelabor, etc.) or

trade publications (ex. Traffic World, Steel Industry Weekly, etc.). If you have a

question as to whether a source falls into these categories, ASK. Also note,

your articles must be on two separate issues (you cannot have two articles on a certain

strike, for instance). And you must copy the news article you write about and submit

it with your report. Articles must also have been published on or after the first day of

class this semester (January 9th).

Checklist for Article Reports:

--Is each article from a separate news source (the articles cannot be from the same

news source, whether on the web or hard copy)?

--Is each article on a different story related to employment relations, work or

employment, or HR (i.e. two of the articles cannot not be on the same event, issue,

person, etc.)? --Are the articles from news sources, not from academic journals, union

publications, or business/trade publications? Are the articles from the Collegian? If

so, you will not receive credit for them.

--Have you included the source, data, and page number on your written analysis?

Have you included the URL for the article with the paper? --Are the articles dated on

or after January 9th, 2023? --Have you made a copy of the articles and write-ups and

kept it? Requirements: to clear all the information
