    1. What is P-N Junction Diode? Explain its V-I Characteristics.


    2. The applied input ac power to a half-wave rectifier is 100 watts. The dcoutput power obtained is
    40 watts.(i) What is the rectification efficiency?
    (ii) What happens to remaining 60 watts?
    3. Prove that the ripple factor of a half-wave rectifier is 1.21 and that of a full-wave
    rectifier is 0.482.
    4. Explain why a bridge rectifier is preferred overcentre-tap rectifier?
    5. What is avalanche breakdown? Draw VI characteristics of Zener diode and explain
    how a Zener regulates voltage.
