Subject: For any well capable of unassisted flow, all connections between the well
control stack and the first full-opening valve shall be a flanged or a hubbed
connection
Scope: All Boots & Coots locations, HWO & CT

Purpose: Compliance with CT Operations Manual; CT Prevention – Flowback, ST-GL-HAL-CT-

401; HWO BOP Configuration, ST-GL-HAL-HWO-404; & API Specification 16ST
9.2.2

Summary:
Recent audits and previous incidents with treating iron during
operations emphasizes the need to reinforce best practice in this
critical aspect of our rig-up design and its implementation at the well
site.

Controls:
All connections from the tree to the uppermost required ram
component in the well control stack configuration shall be flanged and
shall have a minimum pressure rating (varies PSI depending upon PC
category 1-4 i.e. 3000psi – 15000psi)

Preventive Actions:
Purchase & install the correct plug & gate type valves with the correct
pressure rating & flanged connections. Location shall have adequate
spare parts & replacement valves in event of failure.

Flanged version of typical plug valve, API face flanged to create metal
to metal seal, is the only accepted type valve to meet the operations
manual & API specification requirement.
