Who doesn’t want to feel like a princess on her wedding day? For
brides who dream of a fairytale day, then this shoot is for you. Think
soft blues, opulent elements of gold, luxurious crockery, statement
candelabras and of course, a dramatic wedding gown. “I was inspired
by the modern adaptation of Cinderella and wanted the shoot to
embody a whimsical fairytale-esque style,” says Wedding and Event
Expert Bethany Bevis from Mode20. “The use of delicate flowers, such
as lisianthus, pretty spray dianthus and tulips achieved a timeless and
elegant look. The eryngium, thlaspi and gypsophila created a variety
of textures and modernised the designs. Different shapes and textures

Petal pretty
If you’re looking for real petal confetti, you might be
interested in what’s coming next. Growers of natural
petal confetti, Shropshire Petal, have just released its
spring colours for 2016 – and there’s something for
everyone. From vivid brights to soft pastels, you’re
bound to find the perfect confetti. Choose from peach
echo, buttercup, iced coffee and green flash (just to
name a few!) and don’t worry if you can’t decide on
just one colour, as there is a selection of shades. For @fairynuffflower

seating
Potted plant table plans are a fun DIY
project that a green-fingered bride or
members of her family can get involved in.
Not only do they help wedding guests get
to their seats, but they also double up as
creative décor. If you choose a mixed
selection of plants you could even use them
to name your tables – ideal for a garden-
themed wedding.
Make an entrance
Greet your guests with a floral welcome: place
a potted plant at either side of your wedding
entrance or focal point for a clean and modern
vibe. For brides who prefer a more relaxed feel,
cluster different pots together in a group. It’s
amazing what a lick of paint can do, so don’t be
afraid of decorating store-bought pots to add
some colour. We think that this is a great way to
strategically draw attention to your entrance and
wow your guests all at the same time.

Potted plants needn’t be confined to the floor
Centre-stage
Grow your tablecentres from seed or plant
flowers in vessels before the wedding for
beautiful reception décor. Use unexpected
vessels as containers to make an impact; search
the shops for pitchers, teacups and other
vintage pieces to pot your plants in. Here at
Wedding Flowers HQ, we love orchids. They
come in an array of colours, are easy to look
after and their blooms are long lasting, meaning
they can be bought weeks before the big day.
S ugar flowers
Adorn your wedding cake with flowers made of sugar for a classic
look. Although beautiful, sugar blooms can be expensive due to the
time and skill involved in making them – brides on a budget could
consider having a single large statement flower or decorating just
the top tier instead. With sugar you can create any flowers you desire
(even ones that don't exist), so the design possibilities are endless.
A massive bonus is that sugar flowers last forever, so they will make
an ideal keep-sake and memory of your special day.

Instead of using real blooms or
sugar fakes, decorate your cake with hand-
painted flora. With a hand-painted design, your
cake is guaranteed to be one-of-a-kind and
completely bespoke for you. It's a great way to liven
up and personalise any sweet treat including
cupcakes and cookies too. And if (like us) you can't

Look up
“This year hanging flower designs are set to become
even more elaborate. Brides will continue to seek
out unusual containers for centrepiece flowers – one
favourite is terrariums in geometric shapes. Elevated
centrepieces displayed on raised platforms are also
becoming popular.” Joanne continues: “There is a
new movement emerging, moving away from glitz
and focusing on earthy arrangements paired with
luxe details. Brass ornate bowls with foliage-heavy
arrangements and wide unstructured bouquets
finished with hanging silk ribbons also look beautiful.”
Club Tropicana
“Foliage-heavy arrangements will continue to be key for the
year ahead,” explains Joanne. “Tropics will be absolutely
everywhere, incorporating tropical foliage such as palm
and aspidistra leaves. “Flower wise, protea will make an
appearance, incorporated into floral designs along with other
tropical variations such as pin cushions and blushing bride.”
Flowers galore
“I’ve found that couples are increasingly looking at ways
to incorporate flowers into other elements of their day
besides from the traditional bouquets/button holes and
table centres. Flowers for wedding signage and table plans
are becoming so popular along with dressing table place
names with single stem flowers or sprigs of foliage/herbs.”

our centrepieces we opted for three big

entrance and altar were blooming with
flowers in old wooden crates. For my bridal

the flowers
“We knew that flowers were going to
be a major focal point of our day,” says
Deborah. “We opted for the wild flower
look and placed the blooms in jars
collected by our family and friends. Ollie
wanted a blue suit so we knew this colour
would feature heavily in the wedding.
With this in mind, we decided that blue
delphiniums would be included in all of
our floral arrangements. We loved their
height and shape. Orange was the perfect
bright colour to complement the blue
so we opted for orange dahlias in the
bridal bouquet, bridesmaids posies and
