D. LESSON PROPER
Class our topic today is all about
Understanding Conflict.

First lets define what is conflict (Student are paying attention)
CONFLICT - is the dynamic when two or
more people, organization or Nations
perceive one another as a threat to their
needs or interest. (students are paying attention)
- conflict happens when there is an
imbalance between concern for oneself
and those of others .
- it also inflicts so much pain and negative (students are listening)
emotions.
For example: When you have an argument
with your boyfriend or girlfriend of course
you can fell pain and negative emotions, so
conflict can happen anywhere there are
people involved.
Four stages of conflict: (students are Listening)
-There are four stages of conflict that do
not necessarily happen simultaneously.
1. INTRAPERSONAL - with oneself, like
when one is indecisive about things. (students are paying attention)
Example: you need to make an important
decision whether you study for an exam or (Students are listening)
go to your friends birthday party.
2.INTERPERSONAL - among two or more
individuals.
Example: having a misunderstanding
between friends, family members or lovers.

identified four strategies that people can
use when in conflict.

6. FREEZE - Do nothing and just wait for

pressure to build up.
According to Christopher W. Moore in his
book. The Meclia Bon process: Practical
ways for resolving conflict (2003) , There
are five causes of conflict:
1. RELATIONSHIP CONFLICT - Fuelled (students are listening)
emotions and incompatible altitudes
Prejudice, discrimination, stereo typing, lack
of trust lack or poor communication
between parties.

2. DATA CONFLICT - Inaccurate information (students are listening)

Thomas-Kidmann Conflict modes
1. Competing - Zero- sum orientations win (students are listening)
or lose power struggle.
2. Accommodating- Accede to the other
party , maintain harmony.
3. Compromising - Minimally accept table (students are listening)
to all , Relationships undamaged .
4. Avoiding- Withdraw from the situation,
maintain neutrality
5. Collaborating- Expand range of possible (students are listening)
options, achieve win/win outcomes.
E . APPLICATION
Group Activity (20 points)

group will choose a group leader.
Instructions:
Group leader pick one topic from the four
stages of conflict . And together with your
group mates , I want you to have a Role
play . So you need to think or create a
certain situation where you can apply your
topic and present it in class.
