The poem describes the negative effects of drug addiction. It begins with the allure of drugs seeming appealing but then reveals them to be "just a big lie." The speaker loses those close to them and their body and mind deteriorate. They live in constant anxiety and hiding, wishing they could undo their first time using drugs but realizing "the damage has been done" and they are stuck feeling miserable and regretful.

Thought to be something bright And yet, with one simple try It was just a big lie.
All of those whom you hold dear
They all seem to disappear Your body’s weak, mind’s tired You become anxious, and you always hide.
From the time you open your eyes
It feels like your about to die You wish you never woke For you’ve been broke.
You remember your first time
When you don’t think that it’s a crime “Just once,” you said Look at you now, full of dread. You asked for more To others, you shut your door In a second, everything’s gone You regret everything, yet the damage has been done.
Here you are, miserable, in grief
Still in a state of disbelief Regrets swarm your mind, they never stop Stuck in a never ending drop.
