1. Pupils are asked if they have ever read stories on their mobile phones and if yes, the title of the story and what

1. Pupils turn to Pulse 2 page 21 and look at the picture of a Japanese girl holding her phone. Pupils guess what
the girl is doing and then state how much time they spend with their phones every day (Exercise 1).
2. Pupils are given a few minutes to read a text about the story of the mobile phone novel in Japan.
3. Pupils then listen to the audio narration of the text.

4. Pupils work in pairs to answer 5 questions about the text using “yes” or “no” (Exercise 2).
DEVELOPMENT
5. Pupils discuss answers as a class.
6. Pupils then read the article again and choose the correct answers for 5 questions (Exercise 3).
