Question: Discuss how lotus F1 team has been able to build capability and battle bigger
rivals in a very fast moving, highly regulated, and ultra-competitive environment, where
winning races can come down to split seconds
They were able to achieve these through:
1. Technical expertise: The team has a strong technical team comprising of experienced engineers
and designers who are able to design and develop cars that are fast, reliable and can compete at
the highest level. Even though the engine manufacturers were Renault, a considerable amount
of technical expertise went into designing the chassis and different components of the car.

2. Innovation: The team has a culture of innovation and is constantly looking for new ways to
improve the performance of their cars. They are always looking for new technologies and
materials that can give them an edge over their rivals. F1 cars were not considered finished
models at the first, in fact a considerable amount of innovation went into each for each race
weekend ( grand Prix) to gain a competitive edge. They had rigorous innovations in engineering,
simulations and track testing

3. Driver talent: The team has had some of the best drivers in the sport driving for them over the
years. These drivers have been able to extract the maximum performance from their cars and
have been able to compete at the highest level. The team had to deal with 2 of the best drivers
of their generations : Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean. The team had to strategical manage
their PR and ego clashes to get the best out of both of them.

4. Strategic thinking: The team has a strong strategic team that is able to make quick decisions and
adapt to changing circumstances. They are able to make the right calls on pit stops, tire changes,
and other key decisions that can make the difference between winning and losing.

5. Partnerships: The team has been able to forge strong partnerships with suppliers and sponsors,
which have enabled them to access the best technologies, resources, and funding.
