1. What is the importance of Gram staining in bacteriology?

- This procedure is essential in bacteriology/ microbiology as this will indicate the differences
between gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. There are four parts of gram staining,
and these are:
a.) Primary stain, crystal violet
b.) The mordant, iodine
c.) A decolouriser from acetone and alcohol
d.) The counterstain, a safranin

2. How is bacteriology useful?


- Studying bacteriology is a significant topic/course that we, student nurses, must have
adequate knowledge of because we deal a lot about sickness, viruses, et cetera.
