Defense Exercises of India

 A military exercise or war game is the technique of using military resources in training or performing drills
of military operations, testing the quickness and real-time capabilities of warfare and adopting strategies
without undergoing actual combat.

 The military exercise is a measure to test the performance of the armed forces without engaging in the
battlefield.

Requirement of military exercise

 Military exercise has become an imperative part of the armed forces all around the world. They serve
many purposes like:

 It trains soldiers in how to act, how to think, and how to work together in times of conflict.

 The military exercise is a method to showcase the power and might to other countries of the world.

 It also improves the coordination as well as cooperation among friendly militaries of the world.

 It provides an opportunity to test the precision of weapons and devices.

 Training for Natural Disasters and Humanitarian Relief.

Military Exercises are classified into the following

1. Bilateral Exercise: When only two countries participate in Military exercise, it is called bilateral military
exercise.

2. Multilateral Exercise: When multiple nations participate in a Military exercise, it is known as Multilateral
Exercise.

3. Domestic Exercise: The Military exercise conducted inter-services of the armed forces is called Domestic
military exercises.

The military exercises can also be classified on the basis of a branch of the armed forces such as Army
exercise, Naval exercise, and Air force exercise.
