EC3202 – Embedded and Real Time Operating Systems
(CLOSED BOOK)

Duration: 1 Hour Max. Marks: -- 20

Instructions:
● Answer all Questions
● Missing data, if any, may be assumed suitably.

1. Explain in brief any three characteristics of an embedded systems. [5]

Differentiate between embedded systems and general purpose computers (any
two).

2. Write an 8051 assembly language program using interrupts to get data serially [5]
and send it to port P2 while Timer 0 is turning the LED (connected to P1.6)
ON and OFF in every 50 msec. Assume that the crystal frequency of
microcontroller is 12 MHz.

3. Write an 8051 assembly language program to generate a square wave of [5]

500 Hz with 30% duty cycle at pin P1.5, using timer 0. Assume
XTAL = 11.0592MHz.

4. (a) Explain in brief the basic serial communication methods in 8051 [5]
microcontrollers and the use of the MAX232 chip.
(b) Define operating system. Explain any two applications of operating
systems.
